The Senior Specialty Analyst – Epic Inpatient is responsible for the day-to-day support, optimization, and advancement of Epic Inpatient clinical applications. This role partners closely with clinical leadership, providers, nursing, and operational stakeholders to ensure Epic Inpatient workflows effectively support patient care, safety, and operational efficiency.
The Senior Analyst applies advanced clinical and application knowledge to lead system builds, upgrades, and enhancements; evaluate Epic releases and new functionality; and provide recommendations to optimize inpatient workflows and reduce operational inefficiencies. This role requires deep understanding of inpatient clinical workflows, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently on complex issues.
Provide day-to-day support and optimization of Epic Inpatient clinical applications, including system builds, upgrades, patches, and enhancements
Analyze inpatient clinical and operational workflows to identify opportunities for optimization and improved patient care outcomes
Partner with clinicians, nursing leadership, and operational teams to gather requirements and translate clinical needs into Epic Inpatient solutions
Perform and document workflow assessments to determine functional and clinical requirements for optimal system utilization
Develop and execute system test plans for Epic Inpatient upgrades and enhancements; document test results and outcomes
Manage problem, incident, and change management processes related to inpatient clinical systems
Provide daily on-call support for inpatient application-related issues as required
Communicate system issues, enhancements, and workflow changes clearly to clinical and operational stakeholders
Lead or support smaller-scale projects or components of larger Epic Inpatient initiatives
Coordinate planning and implementation activities related to Epic Inpatient releases
Coach and mentor junior analysts, providing guidance on inpatient workflows, Epic best practices, and clinical integration
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Nursing, Clinical Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field required
OR
Experience in lieu of degree accepted:
5+ years of relevant Epic Inpatient experience with a Bachelor’s degree
7+ years of relevant Epic Inpatient experience without a Bachelor’s degree
Epic Inpatient certification – strongly preferred
Nice to have: Epic Orders and/or Epic ASAP certification

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is:$91,416.00-$152,380.80. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.Sentara Independence provides quality outpatient services to the surrounding community. The facility includes an ambulance-accessible emergency room that is supported by board-certified physicians. Sentara Independence houses state-of-the-art medical equipment and highly-skilled physicians and staff. Sentara Independence is now an extension of the quality services at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital including advanced imaging and physical therapy.
