He or she may be required to extract carpeted surfaces, clean upholstery, or bonnet carpets throughout any of CGHS’s facilities.
He or she is responsible for reporting any hazards to a Supervisor, as well as placing Wet Floor Signs in a manner that is easily recognizable to any patient, visitor or fellow employee when doing any sort of maintenance on any floor surface. These signs are to be placed in a manner that directs traffic to the safe part of a floor or corridor.
He or she may be required to assist with setups throughout the hospital, but especially in the Trice Conference Center or West Tower. Additionally, he or she may be asked to help with minor moves at any of CGHS’s facilities at the direction of the Supervisor. He or she may be required to transport large items to the Macon City Landfill on occasion when these items cannot be disposed of via the compactors.
The Environmentalist II will be an important part of the team who prepares new projects for opening. He or she will be required to prepare all floor surfaces for traffic on a given schedule.
When stripping and refinishing a patient room, he or she will be expected to do so as quickly as possible in order to facilitate the placement of another patient in that room. When stripping and refinishing the floor of an elevator, he or she will be expected to do so as quickly as possible in order to facilitate the flow of patients and visitors through that parking deck
He or she is expected to practice the highest level of Operation Excellence in any interactions with patients, visitors or fellow employees. When working anywhere on CGHS properties, he or she is expected to report any maintenance items that need the attention of the Facilities Management Department to his or her Supervisor for follow up. The Environmentalist II is required to police the grounds for debris, trash and cigarette butts both around his or her assigned area, but also anywhere on the hospital grounds.
He or she is expected to always utilize equipment in as safe a manner as possible, including placement of electrical cords and use of other protective equipment, such as no-slide shoes. Additionally, it is the expectation that all equipment is returned to the Equipment Room in clean and working order. He or she is responsible for making on-the-spot decisions regarding what materials are safe to be disposed of, and what is not. Additionally, when disposing of biohazardous waste, he or she is responsible for effectively and efficiently packaging this material so that the most cost-effective and safe weight is achieved. When transporting biohazardous waste, the employee should correctly package this He or she is required to make several rounds of the MCCG facility each shift in order to remove the refuse from the patient units. He or she is also directed to use large rolling bins (with closed tops) in order to transport the refuse. The employee will also be required to move cardboard throughout the facility in order to have it recycled. This material should also be moved regularly throughout the day to the cardboard compactor material and handle it according to safety standards when moving it throughout the hospital, as well as preparing it for shipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity. Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio. Must be able to assist co-workers in transfers and transport supplies, patients/residents, or equipment using good body mechanics. Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 60-80 pounds, specific to the job class evaluation. Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change from one position to the other rapidly. Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds specific to job class evaluation. Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres and noxious odors. Must be able to work in noisy environments and be self directed to complete jobs as ordered. Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations. Must be able to assess and respond to multiple situations simultaneously. Must be able to assist co-workers in multiple overlapping tasks simultaneously. Must be able to prioritize job tasks and organize work space to be efficient and conducive to completing work tasks as assigned in a timely manner. If job class is identified as falling under POPE C, the individual must pass the cardiac recovery test.
