Job Summary: Environmental Sustainability and LCA Specialist will lead strategic initiatives for the Social and Environmental Responsibility Team that ensure the environmental sustainability of Dell’s supply chain.

What you’ll achieve 

 

As an Environmental Sustainability and LCA Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting business critical environmental responsibility functions. This includes supporting our supply chain greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (scope 3 category 1) footprint calculation, Emissions Supplier Engagement Program, and supporting our environmental reporting, compliance, and standards requirements. Be part of a team that leads one of the industry’s most comprehensive audit programs to ensure compliance with all requirements from industry associations, government and other regulatory bodies and provide climate mitigation recommendations and action plans. This role offers an excellent opportunity to blend your technical skills in sustainability science and influencing skills to drive change to help meet ambitious climate targets. 

 

You will: 

 

  • Lead the transition for scope 3 category 1 GHG emissions calculation to a more granular, activity-based approach through collaboration with internal and external partners. 

  • Build out the data infrastructure and pipeline for category 1 footprint calculation based on products’ Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data and procurement data; perform analyses, assessments and document methodology as needed for audit preparedness. 

  • Formulate near- and long-term strategies for supplier emissions reduction program and help craft situational action plans to facilitate cost-effective reduction project implementation/Engage with key stakeholders including Procurement, Product Group and Corporate Impact teams on various environmental sustainability programs. 

  • Present supply chain emissions programs strategy, progress or updates to executives and management to seek support, alignment or approval/Engage with external organizations and partners to support the broader supply chain decarbonization goals. 

  • Support projects that modify internal data systems, integrate cutting edge tools and processes that enhance Dell’s supply chain emissions tracking and reduction programs/Support team’s reporting workstreams including metrics calculation, narrative development for supply chain sustainability related sections in corporate reporting (CDP, CSRD, etc.). 

  • Support team in building business cases for supply chain renewable energy initiatives and engage with internal stakeholders and third-party consultants/Support team in interpreting criteria, collecting data and securing points for EPEAT or other eco-label requirements on energy and GHG emissions. 

  • Lead other ad-hoc initiatives on supply chain decarbonization as identified by the team or leadership.

Requirements  

 

  • Master’s degree in environmental sustainability related field strongly preferred, PhD degree welcome/10+ years experience in leading environmental sustainability programs, preferably with a focus on quantitative sustainability metrics, with at least 5+ years in a corporate environment or a highly matrixed organization. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in scope 3 GHG emissions, with proficient knowledge of both spend-based and activity-based approaches; demonstrated expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), including methodology, databases and tools. Experience in electronics LCAs is desirable. 

  • Strong data analytics skills, with proficiency in data wrangling, modeling, and visualization (excel, Python, SQL, etc.) and comfortable with big datasets. 

  • Broad knowledge and experience in environmental sustainability, climate science, decarbonization strategies, etc/Demonstrated experience in influencing senior management and cross-functional stakeholders, with excellent executive communication and presentations skills. 

  • Ability to translate complex technical information into digestible narratives and create strong visualizations for non-technical audiences; ability to interact effectively at all levels and build consensus and influence decision-makers/Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus  

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.  The base salary range for this position:  $165,000 to $210,000
