Environmental Summer Student

We are currently seeking an Environmental Summer Student to join our team in Lloydminster. Reporting to the Team Lead, Environment, the summer student will work closely with Senior Environmental Advisors to assist with various day-to-day field duties from May until August. This is a great opportunity for an Environmental Sciences student to gain experience over the summer before heading back to their studies in the fall.

Responsibilities:

  • Housekeeping, weed, and site inspections

  • Groundwater/surface water sampling

  • Soil sampling

  • Assisting consultants on field programs

  • Support on -going data entry and management

  • Support presentation creation 

  • Assist in wildlife data collection

  • Assist with spill response

  • Drainage and berm inspections

  • Support CER corrective actions plan being executed through the summer

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary schooling in Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Forestry, Biology or related discipline.

  • Field travel will be required (up to 80%).  Must possess a valid driver’s license/drivers abstract will be required.

  • Experience using field equipment including GPS, EC probe, pH meter, hand auger etc. is an asset.

  • Excellent communication, written and organizational skills.

  • Familiar navigating utilizing Alberta and Saskatchewan Township system.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Willing to work outdoors.

  • Safety tickets will be considered an asset (First Aid, H2S Alive, ATV/UTV training).
