Environmental Specialist

Reporting to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, you will proactively manage all aspects of environmental compliance for the facility. You will partner with plant and corporate teams to ensure operations meet all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements while supporting continuous improvement, sustainability initiatives, and responsible environmental stewardship.

A Taste of Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and corporate environmental policies.
  • Manage the facility wastewater system, including interaction and reporting with municipal authorities, leading wastewater operations, and collaborating with engineering and maintenance to maintain system performance.
  • Oversee storm water compliance and air permit compliance activities.
  • Manage all waste disposal activities, including hazardous waste management and disposal in accordance with regulatory requirements and corporate policy.
  • Assess waste suppliers at least once every three years to ensure compliance with their permits.
  • Lead sustainable development initiatives, including reduction in utility, energy, and material consumption, and support corporate citizenship efforts.
  • Support management of change activities for plant projects to minimize environmental impact.
  • Implement the Environmental Health and Safety management system, including periodic self‑assessments of environmental compliance.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training to plant team members to ensure awareness and compliance.
  • Assist with the implementation of safety programs and support compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison with community stakeholders and local and state regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of plant and corporate leadership.
  • Support primarily day‑shift operations while providing coverage and support for off‑shifts as needed.

Ingredients Required for Your Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Experience developing and delivering training for adult learners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software.
  • Experience managing a wastewater pretreatment system preferred.

When visiting these sites, the physical requirements below may apply: You may be required to walk around the facility, climb stairs/ladders, kneel, or perform repetitive tasks that require hand-eye coordination. You may be required to lift or carry materials that can vary in weight and size. This is a manufacturing environment with large, moving equipment. Noise levels can be high, and temperatures may vary.

Compensation 

Pay Range:$63,000-$93,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
