Pay Range: $26.57 - $29.89/hr. | $55,268 - $62,177 annual compensation

An Environmental Specialist job is available with the City of Fort Worth Environmental Services Department.  The Air Quality Division, Compliance Investigations Team, performs program critical functions in conjunction with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in its implementation and continued performance of air quality compliance and enforcement and local program implementation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with State and Federal Air Quality Regulations and Authorizations and Air Quality Monitoring functions and criteria
  • Competence in the use of current office computer applications, including word processing, email, time management, spreadsheets, and presentation software
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of Air Quality Science and Air Pollutant Emission Abatement

The Environmental Specialist job responsibilities include: 

  • Performing Air Quality compliance inspections and investigations
  • Writing technical investigation reports and conducting complex calculations and documentation of evidence to complete reports
  • Giving administrative support to supervisory-level colleagues
  • Participate in State and Municipal Administrative Hearings and Court proceedings
  • Completing quality assurance on documentation and reports
  • Maintaining and properly employing the use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Preparing scientific and procedural presentations
  • Other duties as assigned
