Type: Full-time                                                

Reports To: Director, Operations- Forestry and Utility.

Although posted in multiple locations, this role represents a single position.

Key Responsibilities:

Department Management:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategies to build and sustain a strong client base in areas such as Environmental Assessment & Permitting, Compliance Monitoring, Feasibility & Constraints Analysis, GIS/Mapping, Engineering.
  • Leverage experience and connections to secure contracts and establish a stable pipeline of work to support departmental operations.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new projects and service agreements aligned with organizational capacity, strategic priorities, and long-term growth objectives.
  • Support proposal development, pricing strategies, and scope definition to ensure commercially viable and operationally sound contracts.

People Management:

  • Manage and mentor project coordinators, and team members, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide direction and support to team members, fostering collaboration and ensuring that everyone is working toward common objectives.
  • Provide career development goals and metrics, meet regularly, write and deliver reviews on schedule, and advocate for career advancement as applicable.
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with SRG’s culture of safety and employee ownership.

Site Management:

  • Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle—from initiation through closure.
  • Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring costs remain within the agreed-upon limits.
  • Comply with applicable federal, provincial and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with SRG’s culture of safety and employee ownership.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience and Knowledge Expectation:

  • Post-secondary education in related fields such as Forestry, Environmental Sciences, or a similar discipline.
  • Preference given to candidates with a professional designation in any of these same disciplines.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a project management role or similar within the environmental industry.
  • Possession of valid industry or service line-specific certifications, as applicable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, including embedded AI functionalities (ex. Copilot).
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with budget development, budget management, and variance analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and the public.
  • Demonstrated commitment to enforcing and promoting on-the-job safety practices.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract with fewer than 6 demerit points.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening is required.
