The Environmental Review Specialist will perform technical reviews of third-party prepared Environmental Assessment reports including RSRAs, Phase I ESAs, Phase II LSIs, and other related environmental assessment due diligence reports. This position requires that the candidate is well-versed as to the American Society of Testing & Materials (ASTM) Standards applicable to various environmental assessment reports. The Environmental Review Specialist will also be responsible for performing technical reviews of third-party prepared CRE appraisal reports.

What You’ll Do

  • Ascertain whether a Phase I (or other type of assessment) is fully compliant to the current ASTM standard

  • Identify any errors, inconsistencies, and/or deficiencies within the report

  • Evaluate and interpret the conclusions and recommendations within the report (as to reasonableness and level of support)

  • Identify potential investment/credit-related environmental risk factors from a lending perspective that could adversely impact collateral value, and provide solutions to help mitigate/manage environmental risk and liability

  • Serve as a departmental resource and point-of-contact for lenders, analysts, and management personnel, to discuss environmental challenges involved with a particular lending opportunity, and provide clarity on corporate policy & procedure items, the appropriate level of due diligence/reporting, and related documentation requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience with an environmental consulting firm and/or with a financial institution in an environmental review capacity

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in environmental sciences/studies, geology, chemical sciences, biological sciences, or environmental law

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail to ensure consistent, high-quality work

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task numerous projects at one time, and meet closing deadlines of commercial loans

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this role is $80,000 - $95,000 along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
