JOB SPECIFICS

This position includes various regulatory and environmental compliance tasks such as preparation/review of regulatory reports and calculations, assisting with program assessments, supporting Environmental Stewardship Program initiatives, and interacting with Energy Northwest and external customers. This position includes opportunities to learn about potable water, regulated waste, stormwater, wastewater, air emissions, and other environmental compliance programs.

Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or related science or engineering majors are preferred.

  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word and Excel)

  • Ability to work as a team member

  • Strong organizational skills for task prioritization, scheduling and completion

Approximate work schedule for this position is flexible to the student's class schedule and will be approximately 15-20 hours a week during the school year with the option of full-time during the summer.


Provide entry-level to more advanced technical support for the designated organization based on assigned projects and student skill level. This position will be directly accountable to assigned department staff and will support assigned project related activities and initiatives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Support assigned routine department activities
Support technical project-related activities within the department
Support emergent related work or assignments

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requires current part to full time enrollment status in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program in a technical field related to the assigned role at an accredited college or university.

Target hire designation is determined by the expected knowledge level needed for the job duties assigned to each internship and by the expected status level of the student when the internship commences (Senior, Junior, etc.).

Must maintain a minimum 2.8 cumulative G.P.A. unless approved by Human Resources. The selected candidate will be expected to be available to work onsite at the designated work location (Richland, WA) on a year-round basis. High School Diploma or GED required.

Pay Range:

Pay is based on academic level:

Freshman Salary: $18.75 per hour

Sophomore Salary: $18.75 per hour

Junior Salary: $24.44 per hour

Senior Salary: $26.52 per hour

Benefits

Temporary employees may be required to participate in the Washington State Pension Plan (PERS) and may also be eligible to enroll in medical insurance if the duration and hours worked requirements are met. Temporary employees accrue paid time off that is available to use after 90 days of employment.
