Job Summary: You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist within the Naval Research Laboratory. This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Major Duties:

  • You will manage/coordinate the hazardous materials and solid and hazardous waste management programs, environmental restoration.
  • You will develop an environmental master plan to document the status of existing projects and identify requirements for future projects.
  • You will plan and implement a waste minimization program to reduce the volume and toxicity of wastes generated by Site Detachment laboratory activities.
  • You will resolve intractable disposal problems involving chemical agents and munitions.
  • You will evaluate on-site and expeditionary operations and processes.

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band (NO-03) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following duties: 1.) Managing and coordinating the hazardous materials and solid and hazardous waste management programs, environmental restoration; 2.) Developing an environmental master plan to document the status of existing projects and identifying requirements for future projects; 3.) Planning and implementing a waste minimization program to reduce the volume and toxicity of waste; and 4.) Coordinating Clean Water Act compliance activities for all projects. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
