Job Summary: This position is part of the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA)-Upper Great Plains Region (UGPR). As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will manage the hazardous waste program and the environmental compliance program for a portion of the WAPA UGPR. *This is not a remote position. You will be required to be physically present at one of the locations listed.*

Qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: For the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [GS-09] in the Federal service in the following: Participating in hazardous and toxic material program. Participating in an environmental compliance inspection program. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR Combination: A combination of higher level education and specialized experience that together meet the qualifications for this position. For the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [GS-11] in the Federal service in all the following: Managing hazardous and toxic material program. Administering an environmental compliance inspection program. Providing guidance and technical assistance to other employees. Preparing for and responding to environmental emergencies and/or incidents in an efficacious manner. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Limit your resume to no more than two (2) pages.
