A Day in the Life 

As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.   

The compensation range for this role is $23.00 to $24.50, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.  

Schedule:

We are looking for a full-time Laboratory Technician I, Monday - Friday, in our Wilmington, NC lab. The regular work schedule for this position may vary depending on departmental and operational requirements. Employees in this role may be required to work different shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may also be required based on workload and business needs. Flexibility and reliability in scheduling are essential for this position.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:  

  • Preparation of samples for analysis
  • Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment
  • Sample extractions
  • Determining the volume of samples
  • Cleaning of laboratory glassware
  • Maintaining clean laboratory areas
  • Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis
  • Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
  • Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation
  • Comply with Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Comply with Health and Safety Plan
  • Other duties as assigned

Your Expertise and Skills

  •  BA / BS Degree in Chemistry or Natural Science (or equivalent training) 

  • Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written)

  • Able to work independently and make sound decisions

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The physical and environmental requirements below reflect what’s typically needed to perform the essential functions of this role safely and effectively.   • Sitting, standing, and walking 
  • Lifting 50 pounds several times a day 
  • Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds 
  • Works in an office environment when not deployed on an emergency response 
  • May be exposed to hot and cold environments and extreme weather conditions, including sunlit, rainy and windy conditions 
  • May occasionally work shifts up to 24 hours in duration
