Role Description

As the EHS leader within GFiber, you will develop, implement, and improve EHS programs for our organization. You will ensure a consistent and uniform approach to operational EHS compliance, program execution, and resource management across the country. By partnering with diverse internal teams and our extended workforce, you will play a vital part in identifying and mitigating EHS risks; ensuring records are maintained, and emplacing effective solutions in response to reactive and proactive reporting. You will also spearhead new and critical safety initiatives, providing the strategic oversight necessary to continuously enhance our comprehensive EHS culture and performance.

In this role, you'll:

  • Manage the National Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program to provide effective and efficient execution of the EHS System across all domestic sites, including strategy setting, program development, and meeting overall national objectives.
  • Work cross-functionally and cross-culturally with business unit heads, and key stakeholders to identify improvements and provide scalable solutions that enhance the national EHS program.
  • Manage overall EHS compliance for facilities, operations, and field staff to ensure uninterrupted operations and develop the National EHS team by providing targeted growth and mentorship opportunities.
  • Lead efforts to optimize EHS processes for evaluating and optimizing vendor and contractor management as it relates to EHS performance.
  • Monitor health, safety and environmental protection compliance at the project level by conducting workplace inspections and audits.
  • Ensure all EH&S documentation and records are collected and maintained in accordance with company operating practices, across both the in-house and subcontractor operations.
  • Lead and support the investigation of incidents and near-misses, including: identifying root causes and trends as well as recommending accident prevention methods.
  • Provide direction on matters relating to injured worker claims and restricted work programs.

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, Occupational Health, a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in program or project management within a corporate or industrial environment, with at least 2 years of management experience.
  • 7 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
  • Experience interpreting and applying Federal, State, and Local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) across a diverse national geographic footprint.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors and contractors on elevating their EHS programs and driving accountability through performance plans.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% as needed to national sites.

It's preferred if you have:

  • Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • 10 years of experience in program or project management within a corporate or industrial environment, with 4 years of management experience.
  • Experience working with various cross-functional teams (Legal, Real Estate, Operations), building executive stakeholder relationships, and leveraging data analytics to influence strategic decision-making.
  • Proven track record in large-scale change management.
  • Experience planning and managing budgets for safety equipment and environmental remediation projects

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $118,400 - $173,400 + bonus + cash award + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
