As the Environmental Health & Safety Director, you will be responsible for partnering with organizational leadership to foster a safety first culture as well as oversee all EHS related internal customer service and external regulatory agency engagements. Supports the organization, with an overall vision, strategic direction, and leadership influence to assist manufacturing locations in operating safely according to Greenheck Group values, with a strong focus on areas of continuous improvement and change management. Formulates and executes the annual EHS strategic business plan, aids in providing focused guidance for reducing risks from incident trends and oversees the department budget, while providing coaching and mentoring to others.
What you'll be doing:
Ensure EHS team members establish and maintain effective relationships with operations leaders, plant managers, supervisors, safety team leads, and production personnel to promote and support safety initiatives of a safety-first culture.
Direct EHS team focus on continuous improvement support to all business units with appropriate level of EHS technical resources as well as new implementations of EHS programs across Greenheck Group.
Oversee development as well as delivery were applicable of various EHS training and delivery.
Develops and Implements Programs that support routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company EHS/Facilities policies, Safety KPI’s, procedures, policies, and best practices.
Manage communication of safety, environmental, law or regulation changes that impact the organization.
Partner with business unit General Managers and Directors of Manufacturing through leading routine EHS Leadership Council initiatives to ensure EHS functions are value added.
Primary Greenheck Group contact for EHS regulatory agencies, oversee managers that ensure the company meets regulatory compliance obligations with OSHA, EPA, at Federal, State and local levels.
Direct EHS/Facilities periodic audits, identifying violations, and partner with facilities leadership to apply abatement or continuous improvements corrective actions.
Participate and or lead investigation of serious incidents, and support CAPA’s through completion to minimize future exposures from reoccurring, and proper records/documents are maintained.
Provide direction to Greenheck Group Facilities or Plant Leadership for safe outside contractor work and clearly explain the contractor safety as well as liability insurance needs of projects or building construction.
Handles and or collaborates with EHS team members and or Human Resources team members on confidential matters.
Oversee partnership with EHS Risk Analyst & Occupational Health for effective WC Carrier and Greenheck Group Finance expense management and program forecast.
Own strategic direction for property, liability, auto claims by routinely engaging with Insurance Carriers, Insurance Brokers, Legal Counsel, as well as forensic specialist third party investigators to drive cost mitigation of claims.
Manages projects or processes by working independently or within cross functional leadership teams
Utilizes incident/injury data for focused strategic initiatives that effectively reduce risk and manage costs for Greenheck Group.
Coach, Mentor, Direct development of EHS Managers and oversee development of other EHS team members.
Lead meetings to discuss workplace safety & regulatory concerns as well as influence plant managers, Directors, GMs, Presidents of opportunities to help influence safe behaviors.
Communicate loss drivers and assists with supporting functions targeting controlling and containing BU associated risk mitigation costs.
Develop and deliver executive EHS reports and updates to various leadership teams.
Relationship Manager for third party partners such as SDS database, Intelex system, Maggid and Grainger suppliers, all P&C Insurance partners, etc.
What you should have:
8-10 years of relevant work experience in managing teams of EHS professionals within manufacturing (private sector), or property & casualty Insurance carrier or broker required.
8-10 years of relevant work experience in a supervisory or a managerial role required.
4 Year / Bachelor Degree in EHS, Risk Management, Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Business or related field of study or equivalent years of job experience required.
OSHA 500 / 501, HAZWOPER, OHST, ARM, CSP, CIH, CHMM, and other similar certifications preferred.
Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other federal and state agencies.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Greenheck Group takes pride in providing competitive total compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package as part of our total rewards program. The compensation for this role includes base salary along with the opportunity to earn additional variable compensation based on achieving specific performance metrics. The starting base pay range for this position is $155,682-$192,313 and may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
