Job Summary: You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER in the Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental Office of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.64% will be added to the stated salary Salary Range: GS-09: $80,260 - $99,596 per year GS-11: $86,472 - $109,867 per year Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

Major Duties:

  • You will be responsible for the implementation of the Shipyard and IMF environmental protection program.
  • You will ensure compliance with environmental laws, all pertinent regulations in the Code of Federal Regulations, and any specific agency guidelines.
  • You will serve as the program manager for specific environmental subject matter areas.
  • You will represent the Command at a variety of meetings both internally and externally (project plan of the day, OSHE committees, mixed waste/radPCB, pre job briefs, process action teams, regional meetings, etc.)
  • You will advise and provide planning and technical review services on specific problems, projects, programs and functions to support the command's mission on ship repair and maintenance.
  • You will advise all levels of personnel including ship's force and contractor personnel on the proper interpretation, management and implementation of regulatory requirements.
  • You will prepare environmental technical documents (e.g., permits, plans, formal correspondence, etc.).
  • You will implement environmental regulations into work practices.
  • You will conduct environmental compliance evaluations, oversight and assessment activities.

Qualifications: For the GS-11 Grade level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer providing analytical support for environmental programs (e.g., Clean Water, Clean Air, Oil and Hazardous Substances/Spill Response, Industrial Wastewater, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Underground Storage Tanks, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures, etc.) to include analyzing and/or reviewing environmental documents and conducting environmental field work in support of shipyard operations. For the GS-09 Grade level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer providing support for environmental programs (e.g., Clean Water, Clean Air, Oil and Hazardous Substances/Spill Response, Industrial Wastewater, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Underground Storage Tanks, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures, etc.) to include preparing and/or reviewing environmental documents and conducting environmental field work in support of shipyard operations.
