SUMMARY: As an Environmental Associate, you will work closely with experienced environmental professionals to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of environmental management and regulation. This is a two-year program designed to develop skills and knowledge needed for advancement into an environmental manager position at Tyson Foods. 

The program is divided into two one-year assignments with the first supporting plants in Western Tennessee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with Environmental Compliance: Support the facility management team in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Participate in problem solving activities to develop long term solutions to environmental improvement opportunities.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Participate in fieldwork activities such as environmental sampling, monitoring, and data collection. Assist in analyzing data to identify trends.
  • Regulatory Research: Conduct research on environmental regulations and policies to stay updated on changes and developments. Develop compliance strategies and communicate to operations management accordingly.
  • Report Preparation: Assist in preparing environmental reports, permit applications, and compliance documentation. Ensure accuracy and completeness of reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Environmental Education and Outreach: Support educational and outreach initiatives aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices within the organization and the community.
  • Project Support: Provide assistance on environmental projects, including site assessments, remediation efforts, and environmental management plans. Collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain organized records of environmental data, reports, permits, and correspondence to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, engineering, biology, or a related field. (May 2026 graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Strong passion for environmental protection and sustainability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data analysis software.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and responsibilities.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally for fieldwork assignments.
  • Willingness to relocate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or work experience in environmental consulting, regulatory compliance, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA).

Any listed amounts represent the base pay range. Additional compensation may be available for this position based on various factors such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonuses. Pay is just one part of Tyson’s total compensation package.
