Job Specification:
Responsible for the overall site as the Environmental Officer at HPPK, overseeing Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), sustainability programs, EHSS performance, and dashboard updates, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements at the site.
Manages environmental compliance programs, maintains permits, and interfaces with regulatory authorities.
Position for environment management (Environmental Officer covers):
- Radiation Safety Manager
- Air Emission Manager
- Wastewater Manager
- Indoor Air Quality Manager
- Waste Manager
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Integrated Environmental Officer role including environmental administration and regulatory compliance such as permits and approvals, as listed below (but not limited to):
- Obtaining, maintaining, and managing various environmental permits and approvals in accordance with the Clean Air Conservation Act, Waste Control Act, and Water Environment Conservation Act
- Permits and notifications related to the installation and modification of emission and discharge facilities
- On-site facility management in compliance with environmental permits
- Meet or exceed HP Global EHSS standards and Local Korea standards and regulations
Waste Management
- General and hazardous waste management
- Compliance with standards for waste storage and treatment
- Management of outsourced waste treatment and disposal, including contracts
- Preparation of electronic transfer manifests and reporting through the Allbaro system
- Compliance with legal requirements and HP EHSS standards
Air Emission Management
- Proper operation of emission and air pollution prevention facilities and maintenance of operation logs
- Recordkeeping and retention of self-measurement data and submission of reports
- Operation and management of monitoring equipment, including IoT-based measuring devices
- Ensure compliance with the Clean Air Conservation Act and HP EHSS standards
Water Management
- Proper operation of wastewater treatment facilities and maintenance of logs
- Management of wastewater tanks and outsourced wastewater treatment schedules
- Data entry and management through the Mulbaro system
- Operation and management of monitoring equipment
- Management of outsourced wastewater treatment contracts
- Ensure compliance with the Water Environment Conservation Act and HP EHSS standards
Legal Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all environmental laws in Korea, including:
- Clean Air Conservation Act
- Waste Control Act
- Water Environment Conservation Act
- Align with HP Global EHSS standards and local regulations
Support EHSS Work
- Establishment and revision of environmental and EHS manuals
- Support chemical substance management
- Conduct self-assessment and support ISO audits (ISO 14001 / 45001)
Environmental Energy Programs Management
- Support energy efficiency and eco-friendly environmental management initiatives
- Contribute to GHG reduction targets aligned with Korea Energy Agency (KEA)
- Support ISO 14001 / EMS environmental programs aligned with global/APJ sustainability strategy
- Explore renewable energy initiatives (e.g., solar)
- Ensure environmental compliance across all site operations
Qualifications and Skills
- Certified environmental professional (e.g., Environmental Engineer or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of Korean environmental regulations and EHS standards
- Experience in environmental compliance, permitting, and regulatory engagement
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
- Experience with environmental systems, databases, and reporting tools
- Effective communication skills (Korean and English preferred)
- ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 auditor certification preferred
- First Aid qualification and general health management knowledge preferred
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in environmental or EHS roles-
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or technology environments preferred
