We are currently seeking an Environment Intern for a 4 month term starting January 5, 2026. The work will involve supporting the completion of the organization's environmental remediation and reclamation needs through the execution of the Plains Remediation Process. The Intern position will be embedded within the Environment Remediation Team and will work closely with individuals from other internal departments. This role is designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on, and interpretive skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. The position will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience in environmental remedial and project management.

Assist in the coordination, management and execution of environmental site assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects.
Participate in field visits to support the completion of inspections, including safety and project scope reviews.
Completing project file reviews to collect historical remedial information on project sites.
Support, promote and ensure compliance with Plains Remediation Process and other Health Safety and Environment policies and procedures.
Interfacing with service providers and consultants.
Day-to-day administrative duties such as record keeping, filing, collection of regulatory information, document processing, data compilation, and project status tracking; and
Prepare and deliver a presentation to the Environment Group that summarizes the summer term's findings/learnings and output.
Completion of Consultant Audits - collection and compilation of information provided by environmental consultants, which Plains uses to evaluate performance.
Review 2023 Velocity (Plains incident management software program) records to confirm all information related to release incidents has been uploaded.
Review 2022 and 2023 Velocity records related to 3rd party release on Plains properties to confirm all available information has been uploaded.
As requested, develop data summaries and visualizations to highlight data trends and cost implications.

Preference will be given to second, third, or fourth year students enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary institution, working towards a bachelors degree in the field of environmental science, emergency management or a related educational field;
You will not graduate from your current bachelor’s program prior to the end date of this internship.
Ability to commit to a 4-month work term starting January 5, 2026
Past entry level work experience doing customer service or relevant internships are considered an asset.
Experience working with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint, and Outlook).
Willingness to relocate to Calgary for the entire duration of the term.
Ability to provide three satisfactory references from past managers/teachers and pass a Criminal Background Check.
