About the role

AGL’s Bayswater Environment team have an opportunity for an Environment Advisor, focusing on environmental performance at our Bayswater Power Station.

Based near Muswellbrook, this role plays an important role in supporting the Operation achieve its environmental strategy. If you’ve got a passion for environmental management in heavy industry and ready to take on a role that blends systems, project work and compliance, we want to hear from you!

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Support site teams to shape, scope and deliver environmental projects from concept through to implementation, supporting practical outcomes on the ground.
  • Embed strong environmental monitoring and compliance practices into day‑to‑day operations, ensuring regulatory obligations and standards are consistently met.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing management of environmental management systems, proactively identifying and managing risk while maintaining compliance obligations.
  • Coordinate and manage specialist environmental consultants, driving high‑quality inputs, timely delivery and alignment with regulatory and business requirements.
  • Translating regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance for operational and corporate stakeholders.

What you’ll bring: 

  • A strong ownership mindset and proactive, can‑do approach
  • A hands‑on, customer‑centred approach, with a proven ability to develop effective working relationships
  • Natural aptitude for interpreting and critically evaluating complex data and technical reports
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering or equivalent. 
  • Understanding of NSW planning and regulatory framework for State Significant Developments. 
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with operational compliance on large-scale projects. 
  • Collaborative and solutions‑focused approach to complex, multidisciplinary environmental projects
