MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As an Enterprise Monitoring Engineer supporting CIS, you will deliver the visibility, performance insights, and operational awareness needed to keep mission critical systems stable and secure. You will build and maintain enterprise monitoring solutions that identify issues before they impact operations, ensure accurate system health reporting, and strengthen the resilience of core IT services. Your work directly enhances system reliability, cybersecurity posture, and rapid response to events across diverse networks and platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise monitoring platforms, including event management, performance monitoring, log aggregation, and alerting systems
  • Develop and enhance dashboards, alerting rules, data collection policies, telemetry baselines, and automation workflows to increase accuracy and operational visibility
  • Monitor and analyze system performance trends across servers, applications, network devices, and cloud/on-prem infrastructure to proactively identify degradation or risk
  • Implement secure configuration baselines, system hardening standards, and STIG aligned controls for monitoring infrastructure, agents, and data collection components
  • Execute timely patching, firmware updates, and security fixes for monitoring platforms using approved deployment and compliance technologies
  • Review vulnerability and compliance scan results, identify noncompliant monitoring systems, determine root causes, and coordinate remediation actions with stakeholders
  • Track and apply approved security directives, task orders, and vulnerability notifications that affect monitoring servers, collectors, and log/data ingestion paths
  • Provide Tier 3 troubleshooting and escalation support for complex monitoring issues including ingestion failures, alert anomalies, data latency, and performance discrepancies
  • Collaborate with engineering, network, cybersecurity, and operations teams to onboard new systems, validate secure architectures, and support accreditation requirements
  • Maintain detailed documentation of monitoring configurations, patch schedules, alerting policies, workflows, and procedures to support audit readiness and change control

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field, or 10+ years of relevant IT experience in lieu of a degree

  • CERTIFICATION: Meet DoD 8140 Information Assurance Workforce certification requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, etc.)

  • CLEARANCE: Active TS/SCI clearance with a favorable polygraph

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring platforms (e.g., SolarWinds, ELK/Elastic, Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Nagios, Zabbix, or comparable tools)
  • Strong understanding of system performance metrics, log ingestion, event correlation, and infrastructure monitoring best practices
  • Experience with patch management, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance reporting for enterprise software or monitoring systems
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to interpret complex data trends and work across teams
  • US citizenship required
