Labcorp is seeking an Enterprise Director, AI Enablement & Service Automation Architecture for Technology to join our team at our Durham, NC location.
Location: Burlington, NC or Durham, NC.
Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.
Work Schedule: This is a full‑time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone.
Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.
Job Responsibilities
AI Strategy, Governance & Alignment
Partner with the enterprise AI Council to align Technology Operations AI initiatives with enterprise standards, policies, and ethical guidelines.
Translate enterprise AI direction into actionable operating models, reference architectures, and implementation standards.
Ensure consistent adoption of approved AI patterns, platforms, and controls across infrastructure, service management, and operational teams.
Unified Infrastructure AI Strategy
Define and lead the unified AI strategy for Infrastructure and Technology Operations.
Oversee Conversational AI for employee and operational support use cases.
Direct the use of Agentic AI for incident response, request fulfillment, automated remediation, and workflow automation.
Advance the AIOps foundation to enable event correlation, noise reduction, detection, response, and full‑stack observability.
Oversee integration of AI and AIOps capabilities into ServiceNow and related operational platforms.
AIOps & Autonomous Operations
Establish and mature the enterprise AIOps foundation across Technology Operations.
Drive capabilities such as alert correlation, proactive detection, automated response, and incident prevention.
Ensure integration between monitoring platforms, event management tools, ServiceNow, and remediation workflows.
Improve operational outcomes including reduced time to recover, incident avoidance, and service stability.
AI Productivity & Engineering Enablement
Lead AI‑driven productivity capabilities that support engineering and operations teams.
Develop standardized, agent‑based skills frameworks for consistent implementation of logging, telemetry, observability, and deployment checks.
Oversee AI‑enabled automation agents used to develop scripts, playbooks, and automation assets for configuration management, troubleshooting, and recovery.
AI‑Enabled Service & Operations Use Cases
Partner with ITSM, Infrastructure, and Engineering leaders to embed AI into core operational processes including incident management, request fulfillment, capacity management, and change execution.
Drive adoption of agentic and autonomous capabilities to reduce manual effort and accelerate resolution times.
Ensure AI use cases deliver measurable operational and business impact.
Training, Adoption & Workforce Enablement
Lead enterprise AI training and enablement programs for Technology Operations.
Partner with Learning, Architecture, and the AI Council to build role‑based AI training for operators, engineers, and leaders.
Promote responsible AI adoption through training, playbooks, and reference implementations.
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as the primary AI enablement and automation thought leader for Technology Operations.
Collaborate across Infrastructure, ITSM, Security, Data, Digital Workplace, and Application teams to scale AI responsibly.
Provide executive‑level reporting on AI adoption, operational impact, risk, and maturity.
Build and lead high‑performing teams focused on AI platforms, enablement, and operational execution.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
10 or more years of technology leadership experience across infrastructure, operations, or digital platforms.
10 or more years experience defining and scaling AI and service automation capabilities in large enterprise environments.
10 or more years experience with AIOps, autonomous operations, monitoring platforms, and IT service management integrations.
7 or more years of experience with workflow automation and Infrastructure as Code.
7 or more years of scripting or programming experience.
3 or more years experience partnering with enterprise governance bodies such as AI councils or architecture review boards.
3 or more years experience with Quality or Lean frameworks such as Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Artificial Intelligence.
10 or more years experience with platforms such as ServiceNow, Power BI, Datadog, event management tools, or similar technologies.
3 or more years experience with AI‑enabled ServiceNow capabilities, observability platforms, and event correlation tools.
Skills & Competencies
Executive‑level communication and stakeholder influence.
Ability to balance innovation with governance, risk management, and enterprise standards.
Systems‑level strategic thinking with hands‑on technical credibility.
Expertise in automation, AI platforms, and operational tooling.

The Executive Director, AI Enablement & Automation is a senior technology leader responsible for defining, governing, and scaling enterprise‑level AI capabilities across Technology Operations and Digital Transformation. This role ensures AI technologies are implemented safely, consistently, and in alignment with organizational standards to improve operational resilience, productivity, and customer experience.
The position oversees the architecture and execution of enterprise service automation, ensuring automation platforms, workflows, integrations, and AI capabilities operate cohesively and reliably. This leader works closely with the enterprise AI Council and Technology Operations leaders to translate AI strategy into actionable frameworks, guardrails, and platforms that enable teams to innovate responsibly within approved models.
