The Enterprise Data Governance Lead is responsible for designing, operationalizing, and maturing the enterprise data governance program across the data lifecycle. This role is also leading the team responsible for the implementation of BBH’s Data Governance framework, policies and standards and will partner with Line of Business representatives that will adapt, document and implement Data Governance minimum standards. 

The Enterprise Data Governance devises, directs and oversees the implementation of BBH’s federated data governance processes to effectively govern the bank's enterprise data including the establishment of enterprise data governance and stewardship, data policies and standards including in relation to the safe use of Artificial Intelligence. The role also acts as the lead coordinator between the Data Governance team and various Risk and Compliance, Systems and related technical functions. Responsibilities span program design, enterprise data strategy, AI data governance, and active engagement with business and technical data stewards.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Design and maintain the enterprise data governance framework including policies, standards, roles and decision rights
  • Lead execution of a federated governance model incorporating Business Data Stewards, Technical data stewards, and centralized governance practices.
  • Develop governance forum escalation paths and related oversight mechanisms
  • Align data governance program objects with regulatory expectations (e.g. NYDFS)
  • Establish AI guiding principles, best practices, and related data governance capabilities
  • Define success metrics and reporting including KPIs to demonstrate program governance effectiveness and maturity.
  • Develop training program to effectively provide partners and data stewards on data governance guiding principles on a recurring basis.
  • Review and update as needed enterprise data quality minimum standards
  • Partner with teams across LOBs and Systems to identify critical data elements and prioritize data quality initiatives
  • Integrate relevant data quality metrics into governance reporting and risk management processes.
  • Design and operationalize AI data governance frameworks covering topics including training data, prompt data, safe usage, etc.
  • Partner with AI office, risk teams, legal teams, and others as necessary to integrate data governance into AI roadmaps and related product developments
  • Lead the development of AI risk assessments and alignment with Cyber and access management partners
  • Promote responsible data and AI practices through guidance, training and stewardship engagement across all lines of business
  • Align governance standards with data architecture, analytics, reporting and various platform initiatives.
  • Enable development of consistent data definitions, metadata management, and data lineage

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or Information Systems, or equivalent direct business experience
  • MBA or other related graduate level degree desirable.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise data management, preferably at a financial institution.
  • Experience in establishing and leading Data Governance and Stewardship programs: heavy emphasis on developing and implementing Enterprise Data Strategy, Data policies, standards, practices, and procedures that lead to substantive improvements in data integrity.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross functional teams of IT professionals, business executives, and other key stakeholders towards common goals and objectives. 
  • Demonstrated ability to inform, interpret, assess and deliver high value business solutions to overcome challenges and/or recognize opportunities.
  • Able to balance centralized standards with a federated execution model

Salary Range

MA: $140,000 - $190,000 base salary + target annual bonus

NJ: $150,000 - $190,000 base salary + target annual bonus

BBH and its affiliates' compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range(s) shown above are only for the indicated location(s) and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
