Enterprise Data Director
The Role
The Enterprise Data Director provides strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the organization’s data ecosystem on a global scale. This role will contribute to and execute the organization’s enterprise data strategy. This role ensures alignment to the enterprise data model (data map and glossary, data governance, architecture) and collaborates with the other Business Functions to drive enterprise data quality, integration, master data management, and analytics initiatives across the enterprise. The director works cross-functionally with business leaders, technology teams, and data professionals to drive data-driven decision-making, operational efficiency, and innovation.
Strategic Leadership
Contribute and implement the enterprise data vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
Develop and maintain the data map and glossary that provide the standard definitions for enterprise data
Champion a data-driven culture and promote the value of data as a foundation for standardization, simplification, AI, and automation across the enterprise.
Partner with executive leadership to define key data priorities and performance metrics.
Data Consultancy
Provide data consultancy to business platform, reporting, and analytics platform implementations, key changes to ensure alignment with enterprise data model and data architecture.
Ensure enterprise data model alignment with master data management (MDM), metadata management, and data stewardship programs.
Proactively engage in analyzing enterprise data management within business functions & platforms to identify areas of standardization, simplification, and innovation.
Data Governance
Establish and lead enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
Define and monitor operational data KPIs and ROI to measure impact and maturity.
Develop and monitor ways of working, engagement principles with other teams such as business functions, operations, and regions.
Establish and maintain global data stewardship and ownership models to ensure accountability and data quality.
Data Architecture & Integration
Partner with enterprise technology to ensure enterprise data architecture is maintained, enabling scalability, interoperability, and consistency across systems.
Oversee integration of data across disparate systems, including on-premises and cloud platforms.
Partner with enterprise technology to ensure modern data infrastructure (e.g., data lakes, warehouses, pipelines) supports organizational needs.
Data Quality & Management
Implement data maturity frameworks, metrics, and continuous improvement processes.
Collaborate with business functions to standardize data definitions and usage.
Data Literacy and Training
Develop and maintain enterprise data training artifacts across learning platforms, internal publishing and collaboration platforms.
Collaborate with business functions and regional stakeholders to improve data literacy by driving data awareness, training, and adoption.
Drive the use of AI and automation for enterprise data team engagements.
Team Leadership & Development
Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams of data professionals (e.g., business analysts, data analysts).
Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across data-related disciplines.
Manage vendor relationships and oversee/support selection of enterprise data tools and platforms.
What we are looking for in you
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience:
12+ years of progressive experience in enterprise data management, governance, or architecture roles, with at least 5+ years in global leadership positions.
Proven success developing and executing global data strategies within complex, matrixed, and regulated environments
Deep understanding of data governance, architecture, and integration best practices.
Experience with modern data technologies (e.g., Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks).
Strong track record of collaboration with business and IT leadership.
Skills:
Strategic and operational leadership with the ability to align global initiatives to business outcomes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management across executive and technical audiences.
Strong understanding of emerging data technologies and trends (AI/ML, data mesh, automation).
Ability to manage complexity, ambiguity, and change at a global scale.
High emotional intelligence and intercultural competence.
Performance Metrics
Successful implementation of enterprise data strategy and governance frameworks.
Improvement in data maturity, quality, accessibility, and usage across the organization.
