Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $93,000.00 - $123,500.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this job is responsibility for fostering the integrity, accuracy, and usefulness of the organization’s data assets and facilitating the responsible use of analytic and AI solutions that generate business value from them.  The position partners with business and technical stakeholders and IT solution providers to ensure Data and AI environments and ecosystems are sustained and comply with industry regulations, legal and ethical mandates, and corporate policies.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, maintain, execute, and manage governance deliverables (e.g. plans, roadmaps, assessment tools, dashboards, catalogs, glossaries, inventories, and associated metadata documents)

  • Define and monitor key performance and risk indicators and measure the value generated from data and AI-related activity

  • Support the creation of a data-driven culture and related competencies to extend Data and AI literacy across the enterprise

  • Develop data profiling methods, conduct data quality assessments, perform data analysis, and facilitate the remediation of data quality errors

  • Mentor and coach team members

  • Plan and facilitate the activity of governance forums, councils, and working groups

  • Develop and maintain Data and AI governance policies, standards, procedures in collaboration with governance, legal, business, and technical teams

  • Create clear, engaging educational materials that increase Data and AI literacy

  • Create and communicate data management and AI governance best practices across the organization

  • Monitor the effectiveness of service delivery, data quality, and change management activity to enable workers’ use of data and AI tools

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Extensive knowledge and consistent utilization of data management, analytic, and AI governance processes

  • Ability to plan and lead solution delivery using SDLC and project management methods

  • Ability to perform work under minimal supervision

  • Ability to handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.  Proactively identify and initiate action to remediate risks.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with less tenured workers, peers, and first-level leaders

  • Ability to provide informal leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members (without direct reporting relationships in a matrix setting)

  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, data analytic/BI tools, and Data & AI governance software

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other STEM related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 5+ years of related data strategy and/or business enablement experience required

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable differentials (geographic, bilingual, or shift) that could be associated with the position or where it is filled. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $93,000 to $123,500 annually. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
