Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a capable Offshore Production Support Engineer with 5-7 years of experience supporting banking and capital markets applications. This role involves maintaining critical financial applications, troubleshooting issues, managing batch processes, and ensuring high system availability. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Unix, SQL, and application log analysis, along with domain knowledge of trading platforms like Calypso or Murex. The role requires working in rotational shifts on a 24/7 basis to support enterprise mission-critical systems.
Software Requirements
Required:
Proficient in Unix/Linux commands, shell scripting, and log file analysis
Strong SQL skills, capable of debugging complex stored procedures, and understanding join logic
Experience with Control-M or similar job scheduling tools, at least 1 year
Knowledge of application log reading, debugging, and troubleshooting
Basic understanding of banking support landscapes
Preferred:
Monitoring tools such as Geneos or similar
Experience supporting handling of large transactional data in capital markets
Familiarity with cloud support environments is a plus
Overall Responsibilities
Monitor enterprise financial applications, ensuring stability and availability
Troubleshoot technical issues, including log analysis, batch failures, and system outages
Support and maintain scheduled batch jobs in Control-M or similar tools
Collaborate with development teams to resolve incidents, support deployments, and drive root cause analysis
Read, interpret, and address logs and alerts to prevent recurring issues
Support periodic infrastructure and application upgrades with minimal disruption
Document troubleshooting procedures, support practices, and incident reports
Participate in shift rotations, including support during non-business hours, maintaining high responsiveness
Technical Skills (By Category)
Languages & Scripts:
Required: Unix shell scripting, basic scripting in Python (preferred)
Preferred: PowerShell or other scripting tools for automation
Databases & Data Management:
Strong SQL skills with experience in Oracle, SQL Server; troubleshooting complex stored procedures
Tools & Platforms:
Control-M/Job Scheduling, monitoring tools (Geneos or similar), log analysis tools
Operating Systems:
Linux/Unix environments supporting enterprise applications
Support & Troubleshooting:
Log reading, root cause analysis, incident management practices
Experience Requirements

Day-to-Day Activities
Monitor application health, logs, and batch jobs for operational issues
Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to system outages, errors, or performance degradation
Support deployment activities, patches, and system upgrades
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and vendor teams to diagnose issues and implement solutions
Maintain incident logs, resolve recurring problems, and improve support procedures
Conduct root cause analysis, document incident resolutions, and develop preventive measures
Participate in shift handovers, team meetings, and performance reviews
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent; supporting large-scale enterprise applications in financial domain preferred
5+ years of experience supporting banking or capital markets applications
Knowledge of Unix/Linux, SQL databases, batch scheduling, and log troubleshooting
Experience with risk, trading, or settlement systems like Calypso or Murex is a plus
Industry certifications such as ITIL or relevant operational certifications are advantageous
