Enterprise Architecture Practice Lead

The Enterprise Architecture Practice Lead is responsible for activating and coordinating domain-specific Enterprise Architects, establishing governance and demand models for IT and product teams, and ensuring adherence to architecture review processes. This role oversees the development and deployment of architecture standards, frameworks, and governance models, fosters collaboration through Communities of Practice, and maintains technology and capability roadmaps aligned with business strategy. The Practice Lead champions architecture tooling for visualization and documentation, defines and tracks key metrics for continuous improvement, and serves as a trusted advisor for strategic initiatives, providing high-level guidance and hands-on support to business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead the Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence (CoE):

  • Activate and coordinate Enterprise Architects with domain-specific insights at the right time.
  • Establish and manage governance and demand models for engaging with the CoE for both IT projects and product teams.
  • Ensure architecture review processes (e.g., ARB) are followed for deployment and solution design.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of architecture standards, frameworks, and governance models. 
  • Enable collaboration through Communities of Practice (COP), sharing best practices, frameworks, and lessons learned across architecture disciplines.

Strategic Architecture Planning and Road Mapping:

  • Develop and maintain 1-3-5 year technology and capability roadmaps using tools like the Enterprise Architecture Radar.
  • Drive alignment across technology investments and architecture evolution with business strategy.

Tooling and Visualization:

  • Champion the use of architecture tooling (e.g., SharePoint, PowerPoint, Visio, LucidChart, ServiceNow) for visualizing and managing enterprise architecture.
  • Ensure architecture diagrams and documentation are updated and maintained for each business solution.

Outcome-Driven Metrics and Continuous Improvement:

  • Define and track key metrics to measure EA value, speed of delivery, modernization, consolidation, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Identify and address missing capabilities, support EA skills development, and promote standardization.
  • Schedule and co-present architecture roadmaps, risks, and opportunities to business stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for high-level guidance, ad-hoc consultation, and hands-on deployment for strategic initiatives.

In order to succeed in this role, the individual must have a sound knowledge of Enterprise Architecture, Emerging Technology, Manufacturing systems, and business, technology, application, and information architecture strategies in addition to internal business acumen that complement the work.

  • Project Management: Organization and communication effectiveness to push projects, timelines, and milestones. Strong planning, prioritizing, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Communication Skills: Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • Collaboration:  Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
