About This Opportunity  

We’re looking for a client-focused superstar to join our friendly, collaborative team and make a real impact on the HDR candidate experience at UQ.

As an Enquiries Officer, you’ll deliver outstanding service over the phone and by email, as well as in person, provide accurate advice, smooth HDR candidate support, and help drive continuous improvements across our processes and systems.

Key responsibilities will Include:

  • Using a client management system, provide timely, accurate, and friendly information to prospective and current HDR candidates, staff, and stakeholders in line with university policies and legislation.

  • Liaise and collaborate effectively with colleagues across the Graduate Research School, providing support and/or expertise as required.

  • Assist with coordination and preparation of self-service knowledge material; review webpage information to identify gaps, issues, and inconsistencies; and provide input to the onboarding of new team members.

  • Support front-of-office operations when required to cover other team members’ reception roles, welcoming visitors and handling walk-in enquiries.

  • Carry out administrative and other duties as directed within the scope of the role.

About You  

  • Holds an undergraduate degree in a relevant field or brings an equivalent mix of education and practical experience.

  • Has a strong understanding of HDR administration processes or the ability to quickly learn and adapt.

  • Demonstrates excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks.

  • Possesses outstanding communication skills, with empathy and the ability to connect with candidates from diverse backgrounds, senior academic staff, and Graduate Research School colleagues.

  • Thrives in a collaborative environment while exercising initiative, judgment, and the ability to work independently.

  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills with the ability to analyse problems, provide informed advice, and continuously improve processes and workflows.

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which may include verification of the right to work in Australia, qualifications, criminal history checks. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
