Major Responsibilities: Customer Service Overriding Expectation:
• Demonstrate a strong customer service and/or student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving and desire to identify and support student success.
• Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued and supported.
• Go beyond the easiest or surface answer for a student, or an internal or external customer, and get to the root cause of the problem, question or issue to solve it as quickly and professionally as possible.
Major Responsibilities:
• Tutor students enrolled at Ivy Tech Community College–one-on-one or in small groups.
• Tutor students in speaking, writing, reading, and listening who have various English language abilities.
• Lead workshops, open lab hours, and supplemental class lab hours for students. Lead entire class sessions as needed.
• Continually develop resources for student use. Candidates are encouraged to think creatively and use problem solving skills to engage students in the learning process.
• Evaluate procedures to take part in ongoing analysis to improve student services. Be the leader in answering incoming questions related to ESOL topics and students.
• Maintain the needs of the ESOL program including: textbooks, supplies, and reference materials.
• Prepare and present topics for student seminars and workshops. Reach out to students via email, flyers, etc. in order to encourage attendance.
Develop and maintain courses shells in Canvas. Facilitate ESOL courses or independent studies for enrolled students.
• Maintain appropriate student records.
• Coordinate with various departments to organize and schedule language lab location and hours.

Minimum Qualifications: Meets both of the following criteria:
1. Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in English for Speakers of Other Languages, applied linguistics, English, reading, or a related field, and
2. Has one of the following:
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching or tutoring at the college level. Knowledge of Canvas.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate knowledge of non-native English speaking students, issues of developmental students, study-skills strategies, and be comfortable using Microsoft Word.
Other Requirements:
Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.
Official transcripts required upon hiring.
Working Hours:
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
Up to 20 hours a week.
