This position is a Marine Gas Turbine Inspector (MGTI) Engineering Technician in the Main Propulsion and Electrical Division at FDRMC Detachment.

Major Duties:

  • You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS) or requests for technical assistance affecting assigned subsystems, frequently at Temporary Duty (TDY) locations.
  • You will provide authoritative technical/engineering guidance to Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) activities and port engineers in resolution of repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems beyond their level of in-house engineering expertise.
  • You will perform special engineering analyses and studies for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, maintenance procedures, material, etc.
  • You will perform functional checkout, assessment, adjustment, and test of new or modernized shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment.
  • You will organize teams (e.g. Assessments and Inspections and specific repairs) with responsibility for functional checkout, test, repair, and inspection of major systems.

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical services and support of major systems and equipment specific to Marine Gas Turbine engines and generators. 2) Performing testing and inspections of shipboard marine gas turbine systems or equipment to determine material condition and state of operability. 3) Identifying and resolve repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems affecting the overall system. 4) Conducting engineering analyses and studies for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, maintenance, safety and operation of assigned equipment/systems.
