As a Engineering Technician – Level 3 or Level 4 located in Promontory, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.
This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
Successful candidates will perform sample setup, assembly, mixing, cutups, bonding and manufacture and configuration of energetic and inert test articles in support of multiple developmental programs. This may include working with energetic materials and the fabrication and assembly of propellant and explosive articles.
Candidates will be required to review and implement test plans, drawings, specifications and planning in support of various development projects. Required skills include strong working knowledge and experience in majority of the following areas: sample fabrication and installation, operation of specialized operating equipment and tooling, handling operations, and safe use of various chemicals and explosives.
The position requires implementation of continuous improvement using 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles. Job function also requires standard computer skills. Candidates must have experience in set-up, fabrication, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, as well as strong problem solving and Diagnostic skills.

This position will work a 4/10 schedule, but may require weekend and overtime work as required.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sets up and operates tape wrap machines
Follows established planning or procedures
Sets wrap angle, determines axis points to set machine start location, enters offset value
Demonstrated understanding of machine code and related motion to evaluate movement, controls, heat/cooling during wrap operation, to form a solid billet. Evaluates tape-tensioning to ensure proper tape placement, heat and pressure controls based on width of material used in the wrapping process
Makes operator controlled repairs as required
Works with several types of phenolic materials.
Must pass all job-specific or specialized certification programs required for core tasks or specialized assignments.
Must be able to operate Autoclave cure, PLC system
Work on various projects as assigned to help improve process and team environment.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Compiles reports, data, planning, certifications, and other items to comply with internal and customer hardware packages that will be presented to outside customers for review acceptance.
Candidates must be highly organized, attentive to detail, possess strong computer and communication skills.
Perform construction and wiring of test fixtures and test chassis working from drawings, schematics and instructions.
This role will report on-site daily to our Propulsion Systems location near Corinne UT. Some domestic travel may be required. This in an onsite position, with no work from home options at the present.
Must be disciplined to follow detailed instructions and comply with procedures
Excellent written and oral communication skills to create clear and understandable documentation
Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications
Other duties as assigned

Must be willing to perform work on weekends and holidays as required
Must be willing to work overtime as required
Able to work a physically demanding day (stand for long periods; work from your knees; ascend and descend ladders; lift, bend, twist push and pull up to 50 lbs.)
Able to read, comprehend and follow established written instructions without deviation
Perform basic math and measurement functions
Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
