Engineering Technician I

SMX is looking for an Engineering Technician I to support our customer at Webster Field. This position supports a rapid integration facility (SCRIF). The Engineering Technician I will be responsible for building cables for multiple aircraft platforms. The candidate will be integrating equipment racks with the latest technologies. SMX is dedicated to the success of the warfighter at home and abroad. The work we do ensures success for our team helping to be better prepared for real world experiences.
 
***This is a heavy travel position. Applicants must be willing to travel 50% of the time.***
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Read assembly drawings, wiring schematics, and cable run sheets
  • Build different types of cable assemblies, from standard RF and data cables to complex multipin and fiber cables
  • Integrate networking, SATCOM, RF, and power equipment into stationary, vehicular, and case-based racks while following instructions
  • Must be able to run and dress cables and wires in equipment racks
  • Solder connector pins and wires to build cable assemblies

Required Skills & Experience

  • Clearance Required: Must be able to obtain Secret
    • An active Secret clearance is strongly preferred
    • US citizenship is required for work on DoD contract 
  • Related experience preferred but not required
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% each year
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Time management skills and punctuality
  • Current Solder certification or ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Active secret clearance
  • Able to Read assembly drawings, wiring schematics, and cable run sheets
  • Able to Build different types of cable assemblies, from standard RF and data cables to complex multipin and fiber cables
  • Experience with Equipment rack integration
  • Experience with cable and wire dressing in equipment racks
  • Experience with assembling metal work assemblies
  • Experience with soldering connector pins and wires to build cable assemblies
