Job Summary: You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Fleet Support Team (FST) NPSL Metrology Engineering Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Conducting engineering investigations and analyses on calibration standards to support calibration, repair, modification, operation, maintenance, procurement, and to improve reliability and maintainability of assigned calibration standards; (2) Rendering decisions on matters relating to calibration and measurement problems resulting from the operation, calibration, repair, design, development, and modification of electrical, electronic, and physical measurement devices used throughout the industrial complex; (3) Reviewing draft documents for technical and grammatical errors as well as providing feedback in complex metrology projects for the modification or improvement of calibration measurement systems in support of fleet-wide calibration program requirements; (4) Providing expert metrology expertise in support of in-service mechanical measurement/test equipment used to support a variety of mechanical and electrical systems, such as jet engines, hydraulic, oxygen, and electronics systems; and (5) Participating in meetings and conferences convened to discuss mechanical and electrical calibration standards engineering problems, design, and development of upgraded standards and systems, and other similar matters. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
