Job Summary: You will serve as an Engineering Technician within the Production Sonobuoy Branch of the Airborne ASW Systems Division, Avionics Engineering Department of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Major Duties:

  • You will schedule and coordinate efforts of subordinate technicians, as well as associated engineers, to support assigned tasks and provide tasking and leadership for contractor teams.
  • You will serve as an end user subject matter expert to provide immediate problem response and resolution for existing computer systems and the research, procurement, and setup of new systems.
  • You will conduct/direct the ocean acceptance testing of sonobuoys to determine the suitability for purchase of production lots for Fleet use.
  • You will formulate technical approaches to meet objectives specified in the basic task assignment, supplemental documents, and information resulting from discussion with project sponsors.
  • You will serve as a primary operator of automated test systems consisting of file servers, printers, and approximately 40 various types of personal computers and laptops.
  • You will be responsible for implementing improvements and maintaining the system, as well as providing technical support to the computer users to ensure operation of various software applications used in business office environments.
  • You will communicate with computer manufacturers to process claims and have defective components replaced, along with performing evaluation and acquisition of computer equipment and software to enhance capabilities.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11/12) grade level or pay band (DT-04) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Serving as an expert specialist in the design, integration, testing, and sustainment of air deployed expendable underwater sensors, commonly referred to as sonobuoys; (2) Applying a high level of technical expertise to resolve design and operational issues, including those that are beyond the capabilities of other engineering/technical support elements; (3) Providing immediate problem response and resolution for existing computer systems and the research, procurement, and setup of new systems; (4) Operating automated testing systems, including the configuration and maintenance of the hardware and software that make up the system, and retaining full responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, responsiveness, and timeliness of all resulting recommendations, work packages, and task accomplishments; and (5) Acting as a liaison between personnel and software developers in order to allow access to various business system servers and applications, along with resolving technical problems with computer systems by troubleshooting and replacement of defective components.
