Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as an Engineering Technician 2 based at our Charlottesville, VA campus.

The Engineering Technician 2 will join the Machining and Fabrication Manufacturing Engineering Team within the Multidomain Sensing, Targeting and Survivability (MSTS) Division and will support the development and maintenance of technical solutions for the manufacturing of machined/fabricated components using milling, sheet metal, welding, and forming equipment. This position generally will consist of machine programming, floor support and troubleshooting, and participation in manufacturing readiness reviews.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • CAM programming of complex machined components using milling, turning, and punching processes

  • Conduct machining as needed on several different types of equipment, CNC machining centers, CNC Turning centers, CNC turret punches, manual milling and turning

  • Interface directly with operators, cell supervisors and others on the shop floor in a production environment

  • Support engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Perform continuous improvement activities focused on cost/schedule savings during manufacturing

  • Foster a collaborative culture that sustains momentum around engagement, problem solving, and continuous improvement

This position is onsite only, with no work from home option. This is primarily a 1st shift position, but the chosen candidate must be willing to work 2nd shift as needed.

 

Basic Qualifications for the Engineering Technician 2:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 additional years of education or related experience in machining, fabrication or manufacturing

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings

  • Experience in CAD and CAM software

  • Experience with shop floor support

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government SECRET clearance

  • US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in any of the following software to facilitate manufacturing: SigmaNest, MasterCAM, Siemens NX, SAP

  • Experience with programming CNC turret punches

  • Demonstrated application of root cause / corrective action

  • Experience with 5-axis CAM programming

  • Experience with ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System certification

  • Demonstrated experience fostering a collaborative culture that sustains momentum around engagement, problem solving, and continuous improvement

  • Defense industry experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $48,400.00 - $80,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
