Job Summary:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Supervisor - Projects will direct the activities of the project groups with a focus on, but not limited to, project development, execution, and providing engineering coordination for plant project work to improve plant reliability and reduce production costs. The Engineering Supervisor - Projects will lead major long-term projects at the site to help achieve the vision of safe production of ammonia-based products. In addition, the Engineering Supervisor - Projects will provide supervision and direction; therefore, proven mentoring and performance management experience is essential to ensure continued support and guidance to the Engineering team.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Supervisor - Projects will direct the activities of project groups, with a focus on, but not limited to, project development, execution, and providing engineering coordination for plant project work to enhance plant reliability and reduce production costs. The Engineering Supervisor - Projects will lead major long-term projects at the site to help achieve the vision of safe production of ammonia-based products. In addition, the Engineering Supervisor - Projects will provide supervision and direction; therefore, proven experience in mentoring and performance management is essential to ensure continued support and guidance to the Engineering team.  

What you’ll do: 

 

  • Actively supports and participates in all Environment, Health, and Safety initiatives and activities, and promotes EHS programs and ensures compliance within the Project Engineering group. 

  • Responsible for planning and organizing all project work with respect to engineering projects Within these projects, the Engineering Supervisor - Projects will oversee and assign activities to the project group and construction supervisors to ensure that CF standards, best practices, and regulatory compliance are met. 

  • Responsible for leading multidisciplinary project teams to organize, schedule, execute project plans, and monitor Engineering & Construction contractors to ensure that all plant replacements, modifications, and additions are performed in strict conformity with design specifications and applicable code requirements. 

  • Responsible for all aspects of project management and implementation of engineering projects This includes confirming project scopes, preparing project estimates, generating AFE documents, tracking cost & scope changes, providing schedule & spending forecasts, updating engineering documents, and completing project closeouts. 

  • Support the development and coordination of engineering work for plant turnarounds and scheduled outages. 

  • Responsible for supporting the development of the Capital Budget Will direct and support project nominations with all required front-end work necessary to meet budget, quality, scope, cost, and schedule requirements. 

  • Works under the general direction of the Engineering Manager to provide engineering services in support of the Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, and Production Departments. 

  • Effectively utilizes the talents of the staff to ensure competent technical services within the Project Engineering group. 

  • The Engineering Supervisor - Projects is responsible for preparing regular monthly reports covering the activities of the Project Group Prepares and reviews various project statuses and cost reports and provides adequate control for the storage and retrieval of engineering data and information. 

  • Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies. 

  • Develops staff and manages high-performance department members by providing regular direction and feedback, orienting, mentoring, and training employees, and addressing performance issues in conjunction with the Engineering Manager. 

  • Coordinates and effectively communicates with the Process, Mechanical, and I/E groups within the Engineering Department to promote good teamwork and enhance project development and execution. 

  • Supports and is an active participant in the initiatives of Continuous Improvement through teamwork, and the application of Quality Planning and Improvement Principles to the routine performance of duties. 

 

 

Required Skills: 

 

  • BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. 

  • At least 10 years of experience related to engineering in an industrial plant with a P. Eng license in Ontario Previous exposure in a continuous chemical production or refinery environment will be an asset. 

  • Previous mentoring or supervisory experience will be a requirement. 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. 

  • Proven technical and supervisory skills. 

  • Commitment to process safety as the embodiment of corporate culture, responsibility and accountability.

Salary 

Estimated base pay for the position is typically between: Estimated base pay for the position is typically between $125,000.00 to $166,600.00

The actual base pay for the position may be influenced by factors such as education, training, skills, qualifications, competencies, years of experience, job-related knowledge, and scope of the role, and could be outside of the posted pay range.
