Pratt & Whitney is seeking a dynamic and visionary Associate Director of Engineering Statistics & Data Analytics to spearhead our mission of converting complex engineering data into actionable strategic insights. In this critical leadership role, you will serve as the bridge between advanced statistical methodologies and practical engineering applications, guiding a team focused on driving improvements in product and process quality, yield, and reliability.

We are looking for a strategic leader who embodies the "player-coach" mindset—someone capable of delving into intricate Bayesian modeling one day and delivering a compelling, forward-looking data analytics roadmap to executive leadership the next. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of engineering analytics at Pratt & Whitney while making a tangible impact on operational excellence and innovation.

What You Will Do:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a roadmap for data analytics within the engineering org, ensuring alignment with Pratt & Whitney’s 2026 innovation goals.
  • Product Safety Insights: Drive strategy, RTX harmonization and execution for enhanced analytics for insight and action around product safety and reliability.
  • Statistical Oversight: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Design of Experiments (DoE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Reliability Analysis.
  • Team Management: Mentor and grow a high-performing team of statisticians and data scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Manufacturing, R&D, and Product teams to implement predictive modeling and root-cause analysis that reduces "time-to-market."
  • Data Governance: Establish standards for data integrity and statistical validation protocols across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Travel Requirement: 10% (Domestic).

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A Bachelors degree in degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 12 years relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 10 years relevant experience. Relevant experience includes engineering-heavy industry (e.g., Semiconductors, Aerospace, MedTech, or Automotive)engineering-heavy industry (e.g., Semiconductors, Aerospace, MedTech, or Automotive) with at least 3 years in a leadership/management capacity.
  • U.S. Citizen - The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Education: Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Expertise in R, Python, or JMP/Minitab.
  • Proficiency working with large-scale industrial datasets.
  • Strong grasp of Machine Learning (ML) applications within physical systems.
  • Familiarity with concepts around product safety and reliability, and Safety Management Systems.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or similar process improvement certification.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data architectures (AWS/Azure).

  • Product Safety, Certification, and Validation (PSCV): PSCV and Engineering Quality ensures flight safety and compliance by validating and certifying products, engineering processes, and services that meet regulatory, engineering, and customer requirements to safeguard our employees, customers, and the flying public.

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
