Engineering Project Lead
As an Engineering Project Lead at Aptiv Munich, you will steer the technical direction of complex ADAS and Autonomous Driving control module projects. In this high‑impact role, you will lead global cross‑functional engineering teams, manage system, hardware, software and integration activities, and act as the key technical interface for our OEM customers. You will ensure disciplined execution across PDP, drive technical risk management, oversee design and peer reviews, and guide teams through critical milestones. Your Role
- Technical Lead of Projects in area of Control Module Development for Autonomous Driving (ADAS)
- Definition and Monitoring of all relevant Tasks in Systems, Hardware, Software and Integration Engineering
- Escalation of technical Issues and Conflicting Activities to Chief Engineer
- Technical Lead of a global Team to solve complex (cross competency) Issues which cannot be covered on project level alone
- Representation of Aptiv as Technical Counterpart for Customer
- Participation in Product Strategy-und Architecture-Meetings
- Responsible to prepare and execute Design Reviews &supervise Peer Reviews owned by HW/SW PO and completeness of the Design Review workbook in compliance with PDP process.
- Responsible for the Technical Risk Register: Identify risks, project scope changes, evaluate, rate, action plans, change points and manage contingency plans.
- Approve Start/Stop/Change/Signoff of engineering activity on project/component level work packages.
- Responsible for the evaluation and management of internal and customer technical (product) change requests. Technical change estimation (effort/timing/cost) and present PCE impact. Follow the PCE – in compliance with the PCE Process.
- Responsible to track closure of PCRs and VIRs by HW / SW PO (owners) as requested along with the Customer Chief Engineer.
- Develop and maintain compliant Engineering deliverables timing (HW (ME/EE), Validation, SW, Systems) in collaboration with the Program Management.
- Monitoring that engineering execution is following standard work and best practices. The work products comply with applicable organization policies and procedures.
- Owns customer problem troubleshooting and drives corrective action.
- Responsible for coordination and delivery of the product solution hand-over to customer at milestones.
- Participate in Big Room Planning, Program Iteration (PI) Demo, Program Iteration (PI) Retro.
- Provide Engineering budget input for BBP cycle: Resource demand, Capital expense, material, credits.
- Responsible for working with competency leads and/or Engineering Program Leaders in identifying and fulfilling staffing assignments for the engineering projects.
- Initiate and track MCIP execution
- Mentoring / Coaching of Technical Managers in Hard & Soft Skills esp. to facilitate effective introduction into TM position
- Creation & Updating of Mentoring Database for Reuse
- Supervision of Technical Managers to facilitate handling and deciding in new or critical situations
- Initiating and moderating of Lessons Learned Sessions on TM level
Your Background
- 10 Years’ + experience in Development of Electronic Control (Systems Engineering, Hard- & Software Engineering), ideally in Safety Electronics respectively ADAS (Radar, Camera, Sensor platforms)
- Profound Experience in direct contact to multiple customers (OEMs), ideally also in direct supplier & sub-supplier handling
- Profound Knowledge in Automotive Development
- Multiple Experience in Leading interdisciplinary project teams, ideally also of internationally spread teams
- Knowledge about Product Development Processes (e.g.Spice), ideally founded experience in ISO26262 process & development according to this or similar FUSA standards
- Engineering Degree in Electronics, Physics or equivalent discipline, ideally additional Knowledge in specific disciplines, e.g. High-Speed/Frequency Design, Mechanics, Tooling, Thermodynamics, Software development for Real Time applications
