Overview and Job Description
OneChronos is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the design and execution of complex, high-performance trading systems that power our periodic auction matching infrastructure. This role bridges technical leadership and product development, working closely with both business stakeholders and engineers to design, refine, and deliver stable, highly accurate systems on time. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing engineering execution, accurately scoping work (including time and staffing needs), and contributing to production code. OneChronos is a fast growing company and this role will help shape and evolve our engineering process as the team expands.
OneChronos is a technology company of diverse thinkers innovating at the intersection of capital markets, mechanism design, and operations research, working to grow the global GDP by designing and operating matching markets leveraging advances in auction theory and artificial intelligence. Our software and systems are developed in house and match billions of dollars per day of security transactions.
Skills and Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a leadership or technical decision-making role
- Passion for the craft of writing high-quality code meant to be read and easily understood by a growing team
- Strong ability to accurately scope work, estimating both the time required and the engineering capacity needed to deliver it effectively
- Strong ability to communicate complex system architectures effectively
- Strong communicator and collaborator in and across business and product teams to identify and refine product requirements
- Hands-on engineering skills, with proficiency in a systems-level language (e.g., Rust, C++, Java)
- A polyglot mindset
- Background in distributed systems, performance optimization, and high-throughput computing
- Track record of delivering complex engineering projects on time, balancing technical trade-offs with business needs
- Commitment to software stability, accuracy, and robustness, with a strong focus on testing and validation
- Experience leading engineering execution, ensuring clear prioritization and alignment across teams
- Familiarity with production systems, CI/CD pipelines, and incident management
- Understanding of financial market structure or a strong ability to learn and adapt quickly to market mechanics
