About us:
We believe the next generation of financial services will be powered by stablecoins.
Founded in 2021, our mission at BVNK is to accelerate global money movement.
We’re building stablecoin-native infrastructure so businesses can move value instantly across borders and networks. With global licenses and T1 bank partnerships, we facilitate billions in transactions for enterprise clients like Worldpay, Deel, LianLian Global, and Rapyd.
Our technology is transforming how businesses operate globally by eliminating payment delays, reducing costs, and unlocking trapped capital.
We’re a diverse team spread across EMEA, North America, and APAC, with a shared belief that stablecoins are the new infrastructure layer for financial services, and that BVNK is at the forefront of this shift.
In 2025, we secured strategic investment from Visa, following our $50 million Series B with Haun Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, Scribble Ventures, DRW Venture Capital, Avenir, and Tiger Global. With the backing of these leading investors, we’re accelerating our growth – and we're looking for smart, ambitious people to help us build the future of financial services.
We're incredibly honored to have made Newsweek's list of The Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces three years running (most recently in 2025) and to have been recognised by LinkedIn as one of the Top 20 Startups in the UK in 2024.
Location: We offer a Hybrid with flexibility working policy.
About this role in the team:
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and empower one or more stream-aligned teams to deliver scalable, mission-critical payment solutions. You won't just manage tasks; you will optimize for flow, reducing cognitive load for your engineers while fostering a culture of high autonomy and technical excellence.
Collaborating closely with Product and Design, you will bridge the gap between business strategy and execution, ensuring your team is positioned to deliver maximum impact. This role requires a blend of deep technical intuition and exceptional leadership, as you will be a key driver of our engineering culture and the architect of an environment where engineers do their best work.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
- Empowered Leadership: Lead and mentor one or more stream-aligned teams, fostering an environment of high autonomy and psychological safety. You will be responsible for career development, performance health, and recruiting top-tier talent.
- Team Topologies & Flow: Optimize team boundaries and interactions to minimize cognitive load and maximize flow. You will establish efficient ways of working that reduce "hand-off" friction with platforms and enabling teams.
- Technical Strategy: Drive architectural decisions for a scalable, multi-tenant payment platform. While you may not code daily, you will be deeply involved in technical designs, ensuring system reliability, security, and long-term maintainability.
- Product & Stakeholder Partnership: Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to define the roadmap. You will act as a bridge between business goals and technical execution, ensuring the team is delivering the highest value to our merchants or tenants.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee sprint planning and execution, identifying and mitigating risks early. You will advocate for a "you build it, you run it" culture, ensuring high-quality deployments and stable production environments.
- Continuous Evolution: Promote a culture of experimentation and learning. You’ll actively implement modern tools and methodologies that improve the team’s ability to ship safely and frequently.
Experience & Expertise:
- Leadership Track: 7+ years in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a formal leadership or management role within the Fintech or Payments space.
- Modern Tech Stack: Strong technical foundations in modern languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, React, Nextjs) and experience with cloud-native, microservices architectures (AWS/GCP).
- Strategic Thinking: Proven track record of leading teams through ambiguity in fast-paced environments, balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical health.
- Delivery Frameworks: Deep familiarity with Agile/Scrum and a strong lean-agile mindset focused on reducing lead time and improving deployment frequency.
- Organizational Design: Experience working within—or a strong theoretical understanding of—Team Topologies is a significant advantage. We value candidates who understand how to manage team interaction modes (Collaboration, X-as-a-Service, Facilitating) to drive organizational performance.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
What we need from you:
- Communication Excellence: You possess exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical strategy to executives and provide empathetic, clear coaching to your engineers.
- Navigating Ambiguity: You thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments and can provide a "sensing" layer for your team, shielding them from noise while translating abstract business goals into clear, actionable roadmaps.
- Analytical Decision-Making: You hold a data-driven mindset, using metrics (such as DORA or flow metrics) to make pragmatic decisions that balance feature delivery with technical debt.
- Passion for the Domain: You are genuinely excited by the prospect of disrupting the payments industry and solving the unique architectural and regulatory challenges that come with global financial scale.
- Boundary Management: You have a drive for cross-team collaboration and an understanding of how to manage dependencies. You know when to move from a "Collaboration" mode into an "X-as-a-Service" mode to keep your stream moving.
- Cognitive Load Awareness: You are committed to the principles of Team Topologies; you actively work to reduce the cognitive load on your team by refining boundaries, improving internal tooling, and fostering a "facilitating" leadership style.
- Mission-Driven: You don't just build software; you build high-performing teams that are passionate about delivering impactful solutions to real-world business problems.
What you can expect from us:
- Fair and competitive salary at every stage of your growth
- Meaningful ownership in the business through our employee option scheme
- Flexible working hours, with hybrid working at its heart
- A culture built on passionate, growth-minded people
- A flexible approach to holiday
- Opportunities to travel to our offices around the world
- An open and creative environment where you can help us define the future of BVNK, its culture, and its opportunity sets
At BVNK, we are focused on building a diverse and inclusive team. While you may not meet all of our requirements, we’d encourage you to apply if you meet the majority of our expectations. You may be a great fit for this role or another role in our team.
