Engineering Manager – Shape Games

Contract type: Full time

Location: Hybrid (Copenhagen Office)

To make that possible, we rely on the Core Platform stream — the engineering group responsible for the technical foundation that every product team, partner integration, and native app is built on. This includes:

  • Core Native functionality (flexibility, layout management, SDK distribution)
  • Back‑Office Tooling / CMS, enabling partners to manage content and layout dynamically
  • Internal Tooling, including our configuration system
  • Cloud Infrastructure (AWS), powering distribution and scalability

This stream ensures that our sport, casino, and account products are adaptable, customizable, and efficiently delivered to partners operating in different markets and regulatory environments.

Our engineers are highly skilled and capable of building sophisticated technical solutions — and now we’re looking for an Engineering Manager who can help them focus, stay aligned, and grow.

About the Role:

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead teams within our Core Platform stream. You’ll play a central role in defining how we build, ship, and evolve the foundation behind Shape Games’ native products and internal tooling.

You will be managing two to three teams with an opportunity to grow into a role a Head of Development for the stream.

What you will be Doing:

Your’e core responsibilities as an Engineering Manager will be to

  • Empower and develop your team: Coach engineers, support growth, and build a healthy, collaborative culture
  • Drive predictable delivery: Ensure your team focuses on what matters and ships high‑quality work across Core Native, Internal Tooling, Infrastructure, and Back‑Office/CMS
  • Strengthen engineering practices: Improve reliability, automation, CI/CD, testing, and observability across the stream
  • Navigate the roadmap: Bring clarity to priorities, manage risks, and align with other product and engineering teams
  • Shape how we work: Improve processes, streamline release flows, and remove friction for developers

To give more concrete context of what you might do as an Engineering Manager in the Core, here are some examples of what you might be doing:

  • Improve release flows: Make sure that we implement the necessary automations and quality assurance for us to deliver efficiently and of high quality
  • Improve workflows: Facilitate discussions on how we can improve our workflows within the team using AI
  • Performance Reviews: Collect feedback and assess the performance of your team, identify where they might need help or where we can enable them more effectively.
  • Continuously support developers: Reviewing feedback, helping engineers grow, identifying areas where they need support, and ensuring they can stay focused on building what matters
  • Manage Capacity: Evaluate the capacity of the teams are scaled for the work expected

What we’re looking for:

The Core Platform stream works with complex technical domains — native app architecture, configuration systems, AWS infrastructure, SDK distribution, and back‑office tooling. To lead effectively here, you need a solid technical understanding and the ability to engage in technical discussions with confidence.

You bring:

  • Strong technical understanding from a background in software development or previous experience in managing software development teams
  • The ability to navigate architectural discussions and support the team in making sound technical trade‑offs
  • Experience driving delivery while maintaining engineering quality and long‑term platform health
  • Understand the work around modern engineering practices such as automation, CI/CD, testing, and observability
  • Clear communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Structured thinking, helping teams stay aligned and focused even in complex environments
  • A mindset of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing engineers, creating an environment where they can do their best work.
