Your Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our first product teams in Mumbai. You’ll be improving the operations of our internal team of sports analysts across Hudl Assist, Wyscout, InStat and Volleymetrics products. These products are used by thousands of teams around the world, from youth clubs to the pros. 

Example projects might include:

  • Improving the tools used to deliver training to sports analysts
  • Instrumenting our processes to facilitate continuous improvement for our operations team
  • Iterating on manual data collection workflows to improve speed and accuracy
  • Automating workflows using AI/ML, reducing manual effort, and improving scalability of our data pipelines

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll

  • Be responsible for a diverse team. You’ll support your Engineers as they develop, test and maintain technical solutions. You’ll be a working manager, expected to balance management responsibilities with code contributions to ensure the team meets its commitments and delivers business impact.
  • Work with a cross-functional team. You’ll collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Product, Design and Scrum disciplines to deliver product improvements for our customers. With our global team, these team members and stakeholders are located all over the world—so you may need to work evenings occasionally.
  • Help improve analysis. You’ll work to improve training tools, processes and manual data collection workflows used by our sports analysts to improve their speed and accuracy.
  • Automation & AI/ML. You’ll also play a key role in evolving our workflows through automation and AI/ML, helping reduce manual effort and improve scalability across our operations"

This role requires 4 days in the office per week, so we're currently considering candidates who live within a commuting distance of our offices in Mumbai.

Must-Haves

  • Formal management experience. You have multiple years of experience managing Software Engineers and know how to guide teams to deliver business impact. You’ve taken the lead on tackling ambiguous technical challenges, proposing solutions to upcoming problems, and providing technical input on others’ work.
  • Experience in mature, full-stack web applications. You’ve spent several years in a role, or roles, that had you building across all levels of a web application, from the client-side code, all the way down to the database. You have a professional background in TypeScript, React, GraphQL, C#, Java, PHP, MongoDB, MySQL and/or AWS
  • English language proficiency. You have strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Flexible schedule. We strive to maintain a healthy work-life balance, but in this role, it’s necessary to overlap your schedule with stakeholders and collaborators across time zones.

 Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience working with AI/ML systems, particularly in applying models to automate workflows or process large datasets

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is displayed below—starting salaries will typically fall near the middle of this range.

We make compensation decisions based on an individual's experience, skills and education in line with our internal pay equity practices. 

This role will also be eligible for a long-term incentive (LTI) award. Any bonuses awarded are based on individual and company performance paid at Hudl's discretion. 

Base Salary Range
₹4,000,000₹6,500,000 INR
