Job Characteristics:Sets and influences the strategic direction of the engineering work. Plans and directs all phases of the manufacturing engineering program for a medium to large project portfolio, mid-size production site, multiple sites, or an engineering technology capability or program for a region. Develops manufacturing engineering policies, standards, best practices and procedures. Counsels management on trends and developments in area of expertise. Originates and applies new and unique methods and procedures with considerable latitude. Tackles complex technical problems. Reapplies technical expertise to provide business-building opportunities and provides technical judgments that help guide business decisions. Initiates and leads technology or capability advances; transfers technology-based innovation across geographical boundaries.
Education/Work Experience:Typically requires advanced degree in an engineering discipline, seven or more years of related engineering experience, and three or more years of project/program/team leadership experience.
Independence level/Reports to:Independent in technical execution on difficult technical projects. Knowledge of external resources in area of technical expertise. Proven experience and ability in production engineering, administration and supervision. Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage projects through all stages. Normally reports to Director of Engineering.
