The Data Services Platform (DSP) team is building the core foundation for Cloudera’s next-generation Data Services across GenAI inferencing, machine learning, data engineering, data warehousing, data flow, and data lakes, enabling a unified hybrid and multi-cloud data platform. By abstracting the complexities of cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, DSP allows customers to seamlessly leverage and scale both on-premise and cloud infrastructure based on workload needs, whether services are hosted by Cloudera or by customers themselves. Backed by deep expertise in distributed systems and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Apache Hadoop, and led by pioneers of open-source projects such as Apache Ambari and Apache YuniKorn, the organization plays an active role in global open-source communities including the Apache Software Foundation and CNCF, driving modern, scalable data management for everyone from analysts to data scientists.
As an Engineering Manager, you will manage a high-caliber team of engineers delivering mission-critical Data Services Platform across a multi-cloud ecosystem: AWS, Azure, and Openshift. You will oversee the development and lead our strategy for container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and container scheduling technologies. You will be responsible for driving technical excellence, fostering open-source contributions, and ensuring the seamless delivery of our Data Services Platform across all supported environments. You will also closely collaborate with partner engineering & product teams to deliver features and products at a rapid pace.
As an Engineering Manager, you will:
Lead a team of strong engineers to design, code, and implement elegant, scalable, enterprise-quality application services
Build strong relationships and collaborate with platform and UI engineers, quality engineers, UX designers, as well as, Product Management, Field Engineering, and other external partners
Work closely with Product Managers to define the capabilities that should be built into the product based on customer use cases
As a leader, you should be able to fill in, to address gaps in process/practices followed by the team/organization
Help to define the career growth of your reportees by working with them and being responsible for their growth
Enhance developer velocity and team agility
We’re excited about you if you have:
BE, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science
10+ years of experience in enterprise software development
2+ years of management experience. Strong technical leads might be considered
6+ years of backend development experience in Go, Java programming languages
Experience building enterprise grade PaaS and SaaS products
Solid understanding of engineering best practices, agile software development methodologies, building CI/CD pipelines, sprint planning and execution
Strong Understanding of distributed systems and building systems at scale
Ability to drive the architecture/design and provide technical direction to the team
Working experience with at least one Public cloud platforms - AWS, Azure, GCP
Expertise with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Openshift, EKS, AKS, GKE, Google Anthos etc.) and cloud networking
Experience with Cloud Storage (Google Cloud Storage, S3, EFS, EBS, ADLS)
You may also have:
Experience with Container Scheduling
Experience working in open source Apache Hadoop Community and more broadly the Big Data ecosystem communities (e.g. Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Hive)
Experience working in the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) community
