About the role
As Engineering Manager, you’ll be a senior people and asset leader accountable for engineering outcomes across critical technology domains supporting AGL’s growth, product, commercial, and brand priorities.
This role focuses on leadership, judgement, and decision‑making at scale—driving secure, reliable, and sustainable digital platforms through strong partnerships across Product, Business, Delivery, Architecture, Platform, Cyber Security, and Service teams.
You’ll foster a high‑performance engineering culture, uplift capability and assets, and lead the responsible adoption of AI‑enabled capabilities in a safe, ethical, and value‑driven way.
Lead engineering outcomes across multiple teams, balancing delivery, quality, reliability, security, and technical risk
Own engineering health across your domain, including platform stability, asset uplift, technical debt, and vulnerability management
Provide domain‑level technical leadership, ensuring consistent engineering standards, practices, and decision‑making
Partner closely with Product and Delivery to enable predictable, transparent delivery aligned to customer and business outcomes
Lead, coach, and develop Engineering Leads and teams, with accountability for performance, engagement, succession, and capability uplift
Drive modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automation, testing, observability, and continuous improvement
Embed security‑by‑design and partner with Cyber and Risk teams on operational stability and incident learning
Champion the responsible adoption of AI tools and capabilities to improve productivity, quality, and long‑term sustainability
Act as a trusted engineering partner to business and technology stakeholders, clearly communicating trade‑offs and risks
Proven experience leading engineering leaders or multiple engineering teams
Strong knowledge of modern digital engineering practices in product‑led, agile environments
Demonstrated ability to influence delivery, quality, and risk outcomes at scale
Strong people leadership experience, including managing managers or senior leaders
Working knowledge of secure software development in complex environments
Experience leading or enabling adoption of new technologies, including AI‑enabled tools
