The Test Capabilities department is seeking a Section Lead for Engineering Labs. This position reports to the Department Lead within the Test Capabilities department. The Section Lead will interface with Lab Leads, Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTL), Program Managers, Department Managers, and stakeholders, working with multi-disciplinary design teams across multiple projects.


As a Section Lead, this position will oversee a lab section, leading and managing the implementation of key Engineering Lab Council strategic projects. The role also involves ensuring the effective management of day-to-day operations within multiple Engineering Labs by the Lab Leads, with a particular focus on compliance and continuous improvement efforts.

This role encompasses oversight of Northeast Engineering Labs for Raytheon, including labs located in Pelham, New Hampshire; Portsmouth, Rhode Island; and across Massachusetts. The position is based out of the Tewksbury location, with travel to multiple locations in the Northeast required.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a team of 15–20 Lab Leads across multiple labs and locations.

  • Ensure the management, coordination, and implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) practices within labs.

  • Oversee Property and Metrology Management tasks to ensure they are being completed effectively by Lab Leads.

  • Perform cost analyses, monitor task completion, and ensure required supplies are procured within approved budgets.

  • Conduct Engineering Lab Compliance audits (ELOE).

  • Prepare for assessments, lead audits, and assist in the development of long-range objectives for the department.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for information flow from upper management to Lab Leads.

  • Develop and implement communication plans; provide consulting support to Lab Leads and functional leadership. 

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience.

  • Experience leading and managing project teams within a lab environment.

  • Experience with Environmental Health & Safety processes including OSHA and/or SD requirements.

  • Experience with security compliance and government regulations, including NISPOM and/or JAFAN standards.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Strong organizational, coordination, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in collaboration with Section Leads, Lab Leads, and customers.

  • Applied work experience interfacing directly with customers in an engineering environment.

  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in one or more of the following areas: ESD, EHS, NISPOM, JAFAN, or Foreign Object Elimination.

  • Program Management certification (any level).

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.

  • 6 years of experience supporting functional management and program leadership within a professional organization.

  • Knowledge and experience in maintaining compliance within labs.

  • Experience in audit/assessment preparation and support services.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
