SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Engineer, System Design and Planning provides engineering services that support facility recommendations to address both system needs and customer facility requests for new or existing facilities, and ensures safe, reliable, and cost-effective system operation and timely integration of new assets to meet current and future customer demand. This includes applying engineering principles and technical support related to project identification, execution, and supporting decision making in recommending cost-effective business solutions to support departmental and corporate objectives. This position supports customers and internal departments to ensure that system and customer needs are met through the execution of new capital projects.
Multiple Non-union temporary full time for up to 12 months and 15 months positions available
Analyze transportation, compression, storage, and distribution operations to evaluate system performance.
Support decision making in recommending business, facility or operational changes required to optimize facilities and services, ensuring any new facilities seamlessly integrate with existing facilities and operation and result in long term value.
Perform ongoing review of the transmission system utilizing the TransGas criteria to ensure a balance between high availability of customer contracted demand and maximize existing system utilization, identifying ways to optimize existing system assets and manage system constraints.
Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement changes as necessary to ensure efficient operations, using business analytics.
Assist in preparing, communicating, and presenting plans, business cases, system analysis and recommendations to internal groups regarding long term transmission and storage operational plans, new customer facilities or system facilities and major changes in system operation.
Support the connection of new TransGas customers to transmission and/or distribution system(s), ensuring natural gas services are available for their unique business requirements; this includes a focus on facilitating conversations, understanding their business processes, and presenting information to customers.
Assist in presenting information to customers and create dialogue regarding determination of optimal solutions; acting as a customer advocate within SaskEnergy; updating customers so they understand facility costs, routing options, and timelines for all parties to make prudent business decisions.
Provide technical support to Gas Control, Operations, Engineering and customers regarding system capacity, operation, new facility solutions and system optimization, as required.
Other related duties as assigned.
Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, or Petroleum preferred, other disciplines will also be considered).
Five (5) years of progressive engineering experience.
Eligible to receive Professional Engineer designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
Experience with hydraulic analysis software and facility design of natural gas pipeline systems would be considered an asset.
Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
An Engineer-in-training (new graduates or those with less than five years’ experience) may also be considered as a path to advance to a Professional Engineer.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters may be required.
A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
