Engineer – Product Quality Failure Investigation & Testing Quality Division (m/f/d)

For the Innovation Unit - Quality Engineering in Munich, Germany, LivaNova is looking for a new innovative, ambitious talent. We are currently hiring for an Engineer (Senior to Principal) -- Electro-mechanical product – quality failure investigation & testing, to expand and support the advancement of our product portfolio such as with New Generation R&D Projects & Product-Life-cycle sustenance.
You will be a key contributor to the quality strategy for our Cardiopulmonary equipment development and manufacturing processes, being key role for the quality and effectiveness on the device when used to treat our patients. In this role, you will ensure that we meet our superior vision to change the trajectory of life to a new day.
General Responsibilities
- Independently drive and execute technical failure investigation/analysis of electro-medical devices, to determine, defects, failures as well as the technical root causes & sources of product problems, for quality improvements and risk assessments, in all stages of product lifecycle
- Such technical analysis/investigation requires to collaborate with cross-functional (e.g. Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Customer Quality, Software & Hardware R&D etc.) members
- Also, includes in developing test concepts and methods, building test setups, qualifying test methods, executing tests, and as well as writing technical reports
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting of mainly electrical/electronic modules & circuits but also mechanical assemblies to isolate faults and identify root causes
- Engage and contribute as engineer representing quality in engineering projects and activities. Specifically, following such as:
- Ensure effective design & technical reviews on electronic modules during New Generation devices development
- Support by contributing to reliability activities such as FMEA and FTA
- Take ownership to develop and maintain the quality investigation lab
- Technical and functional assessment and qualification of broker goods as well as counterfeit verification
- Any other activity or task assigned by the management within the scope of Quality Improvement or resolving quality problems and other projects
Skills and Experience
- Engineering degree - Bachelor, Master, educated in analog and digital techniques. Advantage, Technician level qualification and hands-on experience, prior to university degree
- Beneficial: Education in technical handcraft e.g. electronics technician, Information electronic, communication technician telecom
- Many years’ experience & expertise in performing activities indicated above in similar products like ours
- Knowledge & experience such in analyzing/designing & testing - microprocessor circuits (embedded circuits), electronic (HW/SW integrated) modules
- Strong technical background in PCB modules, electronic and mechanical schematics
- Strong background systematic error/technical debugging & cause investigation
- Strong knowledge in using measurement & test devices
- Ability to craft technical strategies to investigate quality and technical problems
- Knowledge systematic engineering as well as reliability methods such as FTAs & FMEAs and simulation & modelling tools is an advantage
- Good understanding of physics & engineering principles including failure analysis, root cause analysis techniques with ability to show sound engineering skills/knowledge
- Good knowledge of English (written & spoken); knowledge of German is preferred
- Ability to adapt, flexible and work under ambiguity as well as prioritize and lead independently
- Ability to communicate effectively (Clear & Fact based) as well ability to collaborate and establish relationships
- Strong ability to make clear technical communication and assert oneself
- Being open to feedback, evaluate & improve; curios, proactive, creative
