Engineer – PPI & Continuous Improvement

How will you make an impact?
This PPI-focused engineering role drives continuous improvement and engineering excellence at our Marietta manufacturing site. The successful candidate will lead initiatives that enhance production processes and sustain operational efficiency through Practical Process Improvement (PPI) and Lean methodologies. This position is crucial to achieving the site’s targets for quality, delivery, and cost performance.

What will you do?

  • Lead and implement PPI-Lean initiatives that enhance performance, reduce waste, and drive measurable gains in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Coach, mentor, and engage employees at all levels in using Lean and PPI tools to strengthen a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Evaluate the economic feasibility of capital projects and prepare justifications to support site investment and growth strategies.
  • Collect, process, and analyze production and process data, resulting in actionable recommendations and improvements to management.
  • Purchase and install manufacturing equipment, ensuring successful integration, qualification, and operator readiness, while developing and maintaining documentation throughout the manufacturing process to ensure consistency, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Develop machine and personnel requirements and utilization plans to support long-range business strategies.
  • Resolve shop floor technical issues to achieve production throughput and quality objectives.
  • Recommend manufacturing processes, procedures, tools, equipment, layouts, and methods for process improvement and operational optimization.
  • Evaluate product quality, cost, and throughput with Product Design Engineering to configure optimal production processes.
  • Actively participate in New Product Development (NPD) to optimize manufacturability, process flow, and productivity.

  • Review and approve Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to ensure changes are robust, practical, and production-ready.

  • Lead and support PPI teams by facilitating Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis sessions, and perform other duties as assigned to support the Marietta site’s continuous improvement and operational goals.

How will you get here?

Education:

  • B.S. degree in a related engineering field required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Working knowledge of hard goods manufacturing processes, machinery, and automation, including sheet metal fabrication and welding practices.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and improve procedures.
  • Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or PPI methodologies to manufacturing processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead complex problem-solving using structured methods such as root cause analysis or DMAIC.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and teamwork skills to collaborate and influence at all levels.

  • Ability to develop and deliver Lean/PPI training to build internal capability.

  • Skilled in interpersonal relations and project management with capacity to manage multiple priorities.

  • Able to resolve internal and external customer concerns through teamwork and collaboration.
