This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in Draper, Utah supporting our delivery system network - Transcatheter Heart Valve (THV) and Transcatheter Mitral and Tricuspid Therapies (TMTT). This engineer will be responsible for designing the equipment, processes, and packaging we use. In addition, they will work on cost-saving projects and develop and execute packaging related protocols.
How You Will Make An Impact:
- Develop protocols for, and implement, package design, packaging process validation, and package shelf-life testing, as well as driving new packaging technologies and strategies to improve time to market and advance the technology of package engineering at Edwards
- Develop moderately complex project plans with input from working closely and with cross-functional team members and outside suppliers of materials and services
- Validate packaging equipment and packaging manufacturing processes to determine appropriate sourcing, purchasing, installation planning and specifications
- Identify and develop operations packaging projects (e.g., cost improvements, qualify new suppliers and product transfers)
- Design and optimize packaging for moderately complex projects, including new product launches and existing products throughout all stages of product development from concept to launch, including clinical trials, global and limited market releases, as well as key operations initiatives
- Other incidental duties assigned by Leadership
What You’ll Need (Required):
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Scientific field with 2 years of previous related work experience OR
- Master's Degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Scientific field + internship, senior projects or thesis
What Else We Look For (Preferred):
- Experience working in the medical device industry
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working in a regulated industry
- Experience working with sterile product
- An understanding of the medical device regulations
- Experience validating or qualifying medical devices
- Good computer skills in usage of MS Office Suite
- Good documentation, communication (e.g., written and verbal) and interpersonal relationship skills including consultative and relationship management skills
- Basic understanding of statistical techniques
- Previous experience working with lab/industrial equipment
- Solid understanding and knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts relevant to Engineering
- Solid problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Solid understanding of processes and equipment used in assigned work
- Knowledge of and adherence to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety and Quality guidelines as they relate to department clean room medical device manufacturing
- Strict attention to detail
- Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment
- Must be able to work in a team environment, including the ability to manage vendors and project stakeholders
- Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
