Introduction:

GlobalFoundries is looking for a highly motivated Engineer to work in the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, based in Bengaluru.  The NPI Engineer is responsible for driving smooth transition of new products from design to mass production. This role requires a close working relationship and collaboration with internal teams such as Frame, Tapeout Logistics and Integration (TLI), Global Shuttle Operations (GSO), Product Life Cycle Manufacturing (PLCM) etc., to provide exceptional tapeout services in the increasingly complex and competitive world of semiconductor wafer manufacturing.

Your Job:

  • The roles and responsibilities will include engaging in daily tapeout operations such as Design Rule Checking (DRC), data preparation (manufacturing readiness), and mask data verification.
  • To own tapeouts and New Product Introduction Silicon manage independently to meet customer's requirement and first-time proto success.
  • Work closely with Fabs, OPC teams, Tapeout Logistics, and Tapeout Integration groups to help ensure smooth and accurate tapeouts to Release to Manufacturing (RTM).
  • Collaborate with teams across Global teams to identify opportunities for workflow improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and shorten cycle times.
  • Monitor inline/electrical performance, support general/urgent fab operational issues, investigation and analysis for new products 
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and contribute to multiple ongoing projects by applying strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Learn and adopt new technologies while supporting both short‑term operational tasks and longer‑term strategic initiatives.
  • Help create and maintain documentation, best practices, and training materials to support consistent execution of Tapeout Operations.
  • Support process documentation efforts, including identifying potential failure modes and contributing to mitigation and detection strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelor's Degree (BE/B.Tech) in Electrical & Electronics (VLSI) engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Photonics Engineering or related field of study
  • Knowledge of circuit design and test, solid state device physics, submicron FET architectures, and the implications of electrical characteristics and performance on yield and product behavior 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a globally matrixed team or environment  
  • Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment 
  • Years of Experience - New College Graduate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Photo Mask Making process
  • Knowledge of design and manufacturing of Integrated Circuits in Sub micron technologies
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor processing and process integration 
  • Good understanding of photonics 
  • Knowledge of Electronic design Automation (EDA) tools - physical layout design and verification - Calibre DRC/LVS, Cadence Virtuoso will be a plus
